嵌入式处理器性能计数器应用研究

【摘要】:嵌入式系统近年来在取得了高速的发展的同时也开始逐渐被软件性能问题和硬件的功耗问题所困扰。本文就嵌入式处理器中的性能计数器在解决当前嵌入式系统发展中遇到的两方面的问题的应用方法进行了研究。 针对软件性能方面的问题,,本文对比了当前嵌入式系统中常见的主流方法的思路及其实现,总结了各种方法在应用中的差异及其适用的领域,对于在嵌入式系统软件优化时优化工具的选择具有指导性的意义。 本文重点对于嵌入式系统处理器的功耗问题进行了研究,通过分析传统处理器开发人员提出的各种处理器功耗模型,结合处理器中性能计数器可以在一定程度上表示处理器内部工作的特点,提出了面向嵌入式系统软件开发人员使用的基于性能计数器的嵌入式处理器功耗模型思想。通过实现必要的软件,本文对ARMCortex A8处理器的基于性能计数器的处理器功耗模型进行了具体实现,并通过实验对模型进行了测试,证明本模型可以对嵌入式处理器实时功耗进行良好的估计。基于性能计数器的嵌入式处理器功耗模型为嵌入式系统的处理器功耗监测,以及多核嵌入式系统的功耗平衡等应用建立了研究基础。
[Abstract]:In recent years, the embedded system has made rapid development, at the same time, the software performance problem and the hardware power problem are gradually perplexing. In this paper, the application method of performance counter in embedded processor to solve the two problems encountered in the development of embedded system is studied. Aiming at the problem of software performance, this paper compares the common mainstream methods in embedded system and their implementation, summarizes the differences of various methods in application and their application fields. It is of guiding significance for the selection of optimization tools in embedded system software optimization. This paper focuses on the research on the power consumption of embedded system processors. Through the analysis of various processor power models proposed by traditional processor developers, According to the characteristic that the performance counter in the processor can represent the internal work of the processor to some extent, the idea of the embedded processor power model based on the performance counter for embedded system software developers is put forward. Through the implementation of necessary software, this paper implements the processor power model based on performance counter of ARMCortex A8 processor, and tests the model through experiments. It is proved that this model can estimate the real-time power consumption of embedded processor well. The embedded processor power model based on performance counter establishes the research foundation for the embedded system's processor power monitoring and the multi-core embedded system's power balance and so on.
