基于Romley平台的X86服务器主板开发

【摘要】:计算机的系统分别有各个部件组成:主板、背板、外插卡、处理器、内存、硬盘等最为重要。而其中的主板和背板作为最基础性的板卡部件,起到把其他部件组合在一起的作用。 Intel公司在2011年推出了基于Sandy Bridge处理器和C600芯片组为主体架构的Romley平台,该平台的芯片工艺制程达到22nm,处理器更是达到了135W高功耗高运算能力、同时满足24跟内存的扩展需求。 本文结合新平台技术的升级,并同时结合产品在市场的定位需求,我们有针对性的开发了一个Romley平台的X86主板。 该主板的核心是使用2颗Sandy Bridge EP处理器,支持24个DIMM,并同时支持DIMM报警管理、BMC管理、PCIe全长全高扩展、4网口应用等众多特性。 1)本文首先对X86系统中所实现的功能和硬件方案做了梳理,对于设计中的软硬件接口做了充分的定义,在各个功能和硬件设计方案中,分析制定出了包含处理单元、管理单元、时序控制单元、网络单元、存储单元等具体细节,同时明确了设计的方向 2)在接下来的一章中介绍了X86核心功能的处理器和内存的设计原理和思路,介绍了处理器和内存的相关技术参数、设计难点、设计调试过程中出现的问题 3)在该章中介绍了系统管理的应用和设计思路,在系统的高级管理特性中,突出体现了部件报警、事件告警、日志报警、日志存储等相关功能,同时对于报警功能的软件方面做了大量的工作,通过调试、总结、再设计的循环方式,完善系统管理的特性。 4)接下来介绍了系统时序控制的原理,时序的关系、CPLD的软件代码,从软件的角度完成系统的时序控制功能 5)接下来介绍完成了网络功能的应用和存储模块的设计,并从网络功能的选取、网络选择的优缺点、网络的应用范围几个方面做了细致的分析。 6)论文最后论文对于该主板的研究的内容进行了总结。提炼出了该板卡设计中的设计精华和思路,并对该产品在服务器市场中的应用前景做了展望和预期。
[Abstract]:Computer systems are composed of various components: motherboard, backplane, external card, processor, memory, hard disk, etc. The motherboard and backboard as the most basic card components, play the role of other components together. Intel introduced a Romley platform based on Sandy Bridge processor and C600 chipset in 2011. The chip process of the platform reaches 22nm, and the processor achieves 135W high power consumption and high computing capacity. Combined with the upgrade of the new platform technology and the positioning requirements of the product in the market, we have developed a Romley platform X86 motherboard. The core of this main board is to use 2 Sandy Bridge EP processors to support 24 DIMM, and to support DIMM alarm management. The main contents are as follows: 1) this paper firstly combs the function and hardware scheme of X86 system, and defines the hardware and software interface in the design. In each function and hardware design scheme, it analyzes and formulates the processing unit and management unit. Timing control unit, network unit, memory unit and other specific details, at the same time clear design direction 2) in the following chapter introduced the X86 core function of the processor and memory design principles and ideas. This paper introduces the related technical parameters of processor and memory, the design difficulties, the problems in the process of design and debugging. 3) in this chapter, the application and design ideas of system management are introduced, and the advanced management characteristics of the system are introduced. It highlights the related functions such as component alarm, event alarm, log storage and so on. At the same time, it has done a lot of work on the software aspect of the alarm function. Through debugging, summing up and redesigning the circulation mode, Improve the characteristics of system management. 4) introduce the principle of system timing control, the relation of time sequence and the software code of CPLD, and finish the timing control function of the system from the point of view of software 5) then introduce the application of network function and the design of storage module. The selection of network function, the advantages and disadvantages of network selection, and the application range of network are analyzed in detail. 6) the research content of the main board is summarized in the last part of the paper. This paper abstracts the essence and thinking of the design of the card, and forecasts the application prospect of the product in the server market.
