英文学术著作封底简介的评价理论研究

【摘要】:随着知识的不断改革和信息的快速更新,出版业的竞争越来越激烈。显然英语学术语篇也需要“推销”,因此英语学术书籍封底简介的作用越来越重要。本文旨在通过体裁结构理论和评价理论探讨英语学术书籍封底简介的推销功能。 本文采用Swales体裁结构理论从宏观角度分析英语学术书籍封底简介的语类结构。采用30篇英语语言学学术书籍封底简介和30篇英语生物学学术书籍封底简介作对比,利用语步-话步模式分析二者得出必选语步/话步,可选语步/话步,并分析每个语步,话步在英语学术书籍封底简介中的功能。本文同时还运用马丁评价理论中的态度系统,介入系统和级差系统从词汇语法微观角度对英语学术书籍封底简介进行分析。二者理论相结合更全面的分析了英语学术书籍封底简介。 通过体裁结构理论我们发现英语学术书籍封底的体裁结构:“语步1标题;语步2介绍书籍,话步2A介绍书籍主题,话步2B介绍书籍内容;语步3评价书籍,话步3A介绍书籍价值,话步3B介绍书籍读者,话步3C引用名人名言或消费者的推荐词;语步4简要介绍作者或编者。”语步分析和统计结果表明英语语言学学术书籍封底简介和英语生物学学术书籍封底简介的必选语步,话步和可选语步,话步相同。语步2,语步3为必选语步,话步2B,话步3A为必选话步,其余为可选语步,话步。作者或出版商根据具体的交际情境和目的,有选择的使用语步,话步以实现其人际功能。 通过评价理论分析,得出以下结论:(1)三个次系统在二者中出现频率从高到低都相同,依次为态度,级差和介入。(2)在态度资源中,二者鉴赏资源频率都远远高于情感和判断,以突显英语学术书籍封底简介写作的客观性。英语生物学学术书籍封底简介的鉴赏资源频率高于语言学的,而语言学的情感资源频率高于生物学的,这说明英语言学术书籍封底简介更注重让读者如何选择书籍,而生物学更注重书籍的学术价值,研究方法以及书籍的优势。二者的肯定态度资源都远远高于否定态度资源。(3)在介入系统中,二者的对话扩张频率都高于对话压缩频率,最明显的区别是英语语言学的引用资源高于生物学。(4)在级差系统中,二者的语势频率都高于聚焦。二者在语势和聚焦频率对比上没有很大差异。 总之,对语言学和生物学英语学术书籍封底简介的对比分析,一方面证明了评价理论是解读语篇中作者态度,立场的有力工具,另一方面希望研究结果能够为英语学术书籍封底简介的写作提供建议并引起出版业对其人际功能的重视。
[Abstract]:With the constant reform of knowledge and the rapid updating of information, the competition of publishing industry is becoming more and more fierce. Obviously, English academic texts also need to be "promoted", so the role of English academic books in back-cover is becoming more and more important. The purpose of this paper is to explore the marketing function of English academic books by genre structure theory and evaluation theory. In this paper, Swales genre structure theory is used to analyze the genre structure of English academic books. A comparison was made between 30 English academic books on linguistics and 30 on English biology, and the analysis of the two methods was carried out to obtain the necessary step / speech step, the optional step / step, and the analysis of each step. The function of the word step in the introduction to the back cover of English academic books. At the same time, this paper uses attitude system, intervention system and differential system in Martin evaluation theory to analyze the background of English academic books from the perspective of lexical grammar. Combined with the two theories, this paper analyzes the background of English academic books in a more comprehensive way. Based on the theory of genre structure, we find out the genre structure of English academic books: "step 1 title, step 2 introduces books, step 2A introduces the subject of books, step 2B introduces the content of books, step 3 evaluates books," Step 3A introduces the value of the book, step 3B introduces the reader of the book, step 3C refers to famous quotes or consumer recommendations; step 4 briefly introduces the author or editor. " The results of step analysis and statistical analysis show that the necessary language steps, the speech steps and the optional language steps are the same as those of the English linguistics academic books and the English biology academic books. Step 2, step 3 is the necessary step, step 2 B, step 3A is the necessary step, the rest is optional step. According to the specific communication situation and purpose, the author or publisher chooses to use verbal step to realize their interpersonal function. Through the analysis of evaluation theory, the following conclusions are drawn: (1) the frequency of the three sub-systems in the two systems is the same from high to low, followed by attitude, difference and intervention. (2) in attitude resources, the frequency of appreciation resources between them is far higher than that of emotion and judgment. In order to highlight the English academic books cover the objectivity of writing. The frequency of appreciation resources is higher than that of linguistics, and the frequency of affective resources of linguistics is higher than that of biology. This shows that the background profile of English academic books pays more attention to how readers choose books. But biology pays more attention to the academic value of books, research methods and the advantages of books. The positive attitude resources of both are far higher than the negative attitude resources. (3) in the intervention system, the frequency of dialogue expansion is higher than that of dialogue compression, and the most obvious difference is that the cited resources in English linguistics are higher than those in biology. (4) in the differential system, The potential frequency of both is higher than that of focus. There is no significant difference between the two groups in terms of potential and focusing frequency. In a word, the contrastive analysis of the background of academic books in linguistics and biology proves that evaluation theory is a powerful tool for interpreting the author's attitude and position in a text. On the other hand, it is hoped that the research results can provide advice for the writing of the English academic book cover profile and arouse the attention of the publishing industry to its interpersonal function.
