社会研究方法论辩背后的中国研究反思

【摘要】：通过对2016年围绕社会研究方法展开的大讨论的梳理,可以发现方法之争的背后实际上反映出学界对中国研究的反思或"焦虑"。中国社会转型的复杂性和特殊性,使得中国研究还处在"归纳推理"阶段,但不排斥定量研究对相关理论或概念进行证伪或证实,以获得"普适性"认识;即便如此,也不可高估科学理性的作用,大数据时代的到来,并不意味着一切皆可大数据化。无论社会的复杂性还是精确测量存在的信息不全,或是人们的认知能力的局限,定量研究和定性研究都有其不足,因此只有将定性研究和定量研究结合在一起,或许有可能接近对"经验事实"的认识,才有可能回应费孝通晚年提出的"费孝通之问"。因此,以"谦卑"的态度研究社会,是社会研究应有的品质。
[Abstract]:By combing the discussion about the social research methods in 2016, we can find that the controversy behind the methods actually reflects the reflection or "anxiety" of the academic circles on the Chinese research. The complexity and particularity of Chinese social transformation make the Chinese research still in the stage of "inductive reasoning", but it does not exclude the quantitative research to falsify or verify the relevant theories or concepts in order to obtain the "universal" understanding. Nor should the role of scientific reason be overestimated. The arrival of the big data era does not mean that everything can be digitized. Whether the complexity of society or the precise measurement of incomplete information, or the limitations of people's cognitive ability, quantitative and qualitative research have their shortcomings, so qualitative and quantitative research can only be combined together. Perhaps it is possible to approach the understanding of "empirical facts" to respond to Fei Xiaotong's "Fei Xiaotong's question" in his later years. Therefore, the study of society with humility is the quality of social research.
