[Abstract]:In the modern western political context, separatism, like a cloud, has had a great impact on the political unity and economic prosperity of many countries, and even on the security and stability of the whole western world. Since the outbreak of the global financial crisis, economic growth in the western world has slowed down, social contradictions have deepened, ethnic and religious conflicts and geographical conflicts have proliferated, and separatism has subsequently become a turbulent countercurrent in the international political structure. Within a year last year, Scotland held a referendum on independence from Britain, the New Flemish Union Party, which advocated Flemish independence, won a general election in Belgium, the Crimean crisis broke out in Ukraine, and an informal referendum attempt was made in Spain's Catalonia region.
