[Abstract]:In the Edo era, the citizens, known as the townspeople, enjoyed great economic growth, accumulated enormous wealth and created unprecedented prosperity. But no matter how rich the townspeople are, they cannot change the fact that their political status is low. Material needs are met and people pursue spiritual enjoyment. However, because of the social reality of the Edo era, the townspeople were unable to improve their social status, so they tried to open up the situation at the cultural level, and the brown color came to the fore at the request of the times and became the popular color of the society at that time. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the popular reasons of brown color in the Edo era, and then to explore the essence of the people's culture hidden in it. Based on the characteristics of the Edo era in Japan, this paper adopts the method of data research. In the preface part, the reason and research object of this thesis are expounded, and the general research direction of this thesis is pointed out. The first chapter compares the economic strength and social status of the samurai class and the town class, and draws the conclusion that there is an imbalance between the economic strength and the social status of the two classes, especially the town class. The imbalance between economic power and social status prompted the people of the town to have a sense of resistance, which turned into the motive force for the prosperity of the town's culture. The second chapter, from the technical point of view, to explore the reasons for the popularity of brown color. The technology of brown color dyeing is developed and the cost is low, which clears the way for the popularity of brown color. This has created good conditions for the prosperity of the town culture, especially the brown culture. Chapter three, this chapter consists of three sections: "popularity of kabuki actors", "multiple ways of popularity" and "Aesthetic-quintessence of people in town", and traces the cultural origin of the popularity of brown color in the discussion. In the pursuit of spiritual enjoyment, the rich townspeople gradually expanded their self-expression desire and were finally released through brown color. The entertainment spirit of the townspeople has caused a cultural consumption boom and promoted the prosperity of the whole culture, which is a major characteristic of the town culture. The fourth chapter looks at the characteristics of the town culture from the angle of political domination. The political reasons here mainly refer to the shogunate at that time issued a "ban on luxury orders." No matter what kind of order the shogunate promulgates, the townspeople will deftly go out of their fashion line without violating the ban, which makes the shogunate at that time helpless, that is, the people of the town in the cultural field. In the last part of the summary, the author summarizes the four reasons discussed above, and then concludes the characteristics of the town culture. The popularity of brown color is, in fact, a cultural revolt by the town class based on a desire for freedom to satisfy its desire for self-expression. On the historical stage of the Edo era, the townspeople rely on their strong economic strength, exert their wisdom and intelligence, promote the popularity of brown color, and actively promote their own ideas and reflect their own strength in the field of culture. Popular color is also due to the efforts of the class, gradually integrated into the public, to a wider society.
