评价理论视角下的口译员角色探讨

【摘要】:马丁(2005)在其著作《评估语言:英语评价系统》一书中建立并且详细阐述了评价系统,,这一发展是对于韩礼德(1994)所述语言元功能之一评价功能的深入和拓展。马丁极尽其详地将这一理论框架的应用方法,分析原则进行了论述,并且通过对于新闻体裁文章的评价资源分析得出了“评论员声音”这一结论,指出评论员在新闻报道中的评价资源可以揭露评论员态度。该论文以此为出发点,试图借鉴其最新发展的成就来为口译员角色课题找到新的阐释之道,故论文目的确定为在口译语篇中寻找切实可信的证据,以期有力证明口译员声音在语篇中的存的可见性与必然性。 论文以语篇分析为背景,根据马丁所建立的评价体系内的态度、介入以及级差三大子系统,对于一则演讲类英译汉口译现场的语料进行了评价资源分析,确定语篇原作者的立场态度。之后通过对比其两则不同译文中对于关键评价资源的处理,发现评价资源在口译后的变异。文章简要分析了这些变异的原因,推断口译员对于口译活动、演讲者、背景的了解与口译员自身的背景都影响其在口译活动中的个人立场态度,这种态度通过评价资源在口译中的变异体现。最终笔者认为评价资源分析能够寻找到口译员声音的存在,从而证明口译员角色的显性存在是必然的。 诚然口译员角色问题由来已久,持异见者各有说辞。然本篇论文旨在从语篇入手从实证的角度探讨这一问题。评价理论高度关注人际功能,也为本篇论文提供了有力的理论框架支撑。
[Abstract]:In his book Appraisal language: English Evaluation system, Martin set up and elaborated the evaluation system in detail. This development is an expansion of the evaluation function of one of the linguistic metafunctions mentioned by Halliday Halliday 1994. Martin did his utmost to discuss the application methods and analytical principles of this theoretical framework. And through the analysis of the evaluation resources of news genre articles, this paper draws the conclusion of "commentator's voice", and points out that the evaluation resources in news reports can reveal the commentator's attitude. In order to find a new way to explain the role of interpreters, the purpose of this thesis is to find credible evidence in interpreting texts. The purpose of this paper is to prove the visibility and inevitability of the interpreter's voice in the text. Based on discourse analysis and the three subsystems of attitude, intervention and level difference in the evaluation system established by Martin, this paper makes an analysis of the evaluation resources of a speech interpretation site for English-to-Chinese. The author determines the author's position and attitude, and finds out the variation of the evaluation resource after interpretation by comparing the treatment of the critical evaluation resource in the two different versions of the text. The paper briefly analyzes the reasons for these variations. It is inferred that interpreters' understanding of interpreting activities, speakers, backgrounds and interpreters' own backgrounds all affect their personal attitudes in interpreting activities. This attitude is reflected by the variation of evaluation resources in interpreting. Finally, the author thinks that the analysis of evaluation resources can find the presence of interpreter's voice, which proves that the dominant existence of interpreter's role is inevitable. It is true that the problem of interpreters' role has existed for a long time, and dissidents have different arguments. However, this thesis aims to explore this issue from the perspective of empirical analysis from the perspective of discourse. The evaluation theory is highly concerned with interpersonal function. It also provides a powerful theoretical framework for this paper.
