由考据学再读“民可使由之不可使知之”

【摘要】：正《论语》大概成书于战国初期,其词句奇古,文无标点,加之全书为语录体,不得以上下文分析语意。又兼遭逢暴秦焚书之祸,难免讹误衍夺,故自秦汉以降,《论语》多处存疑,众说纷纭。古人行文不加标点,要正确解读作者意图必须句读正确,《论语.泰伯》中"民可使由之不可使知之"一条,因其句读不同,可以表达多种不同的含义,历来为学者争论不休。概括起来有如下六种句读方式:句读1:民可使由之不可使知之。句读2:民可使由之,不可使知之。句读3:民可,使由之;不可,使知之。句读4:民可使,由之;不可使,知之。句读5:民可使,由之不
[Abstract]:The Analects of Confucius was probably written in the early warring States period, whose words and phrases were odd, without punctuation, and the whole book was a quotation, so it could not be used to analyze the meaning of words in context. But also suffered from the disaster of burning books in Qin Dynasty, it was inevitable to falsely devolve, so since Qin and Han dynasties, the Analects of Confucius had many doubts and different opinions. The ancients did not punctuate, to correctly interpret the intention of the author must read the correct sentence, < Analects. The article "the people can make it impossible to know" in Taber is always debated by scholars because its sentences are different in reading and can express many different meanings. To sum up, there are six ways of reading sentences: 1: people can make them unknowable. The people can do it without knowing it. The people can make it by it; not by it, so that they know it. The people can do it, by it, not by it. The people can do it, so they don't.
