释意理论在电影《教父》字幕翻译中的应用

【摘要】:在国内外文化交流中,影视字幕翻译扮演者重要的角色。人们通过电影的字幕渠道慢慢了解着其他国家的文化,生活习俗。在欣赏电影的时候,观众期待获得和原语观众一样的感受,好的字幕翻译就能更好服务目的语观众。目前,越来越多的翻译工作者开始慢慢关注这一领域,结合各种中西方翻译理论来指导字幕翻译。本文尝试用法国释意派翻译理论来探讨英文字幕翻译,文本分析的是获得美国奥斯卡多项大奖的经典电影《教父》里面的字幕对白翻译。 20世纪60年代,经过长时间的会议翻译实践,达妮卡·赛莱丝科维奇教授在法国的巴黎高等翻译学府创建了释意理论。该理论起初为口译,会议翻译所应用,,而后,国内外一些学者将该理论应用到文学翻译,科技翻译,及其它翻译领域。它的主要观点是译者通过语言符号和自己的认知补充对原文意思所作的一种解释;译者应追求的不是语言单位的对等,而是原文意思或效果的等值。释意理论指出翻译不是一种简单的语言符号转换活动,译者在翻译的过程中,首先他们应该先理解了源语言,然后意义与语言形式分离,即脱离源语言外壳,最后重新表达。通过释意理论的详细阐述,本文旨在用其研究成果来指导好字幕对白的翻译。 本篇论文主要由引文,主体部分和所得结论三部分组成。论文的第一章引文陈述了研究背景,论文的写作目的及其写作意义。第二个章节阐述了影视翻译,尤其是字幕翻译国内外相关研究的回顾,以及字幕翻译的分类,及其特点。第三个章节是本文的理论基础,法国释意派翻译理论的介绍,它的建立与发展,以及该翻译理论的核心观点。它提出的翻译过程分为三个阶段,分别为:理解,脱离源语言外壳,和重新表达。第四章节应用释意理论的观点,分析英文电影《教父》字幕对白的翻译。第五章节是针对释意理论理论所提出的“脱离源语言外壳”,译者在字幕翻译中所采用的一些翻译策略。最后一章结论部分,笔者对全文做出了总结。 过去,一些学者用其它的翻译理论对字幕翻译做了研究,而在翻译理论和字幕文本的相互结合研究中,还很少看到用释意理论来指导字幕翻译的文章。本文尝试用释意派翻译理论的研究成果来研究英文字幕的翻译,以期望本研究能抛砖引玉,为影视字幕翻译带来一些启发,使影视字幕翻译更受重视并发挥其跨文化交流的功能。
[Abstract]:Film subtitle translation plays an important role in cultural exchanges at home and abroad. People gradually understand the culture and customs of other countries through the subtitle channels of films. When watching the film, the audience expects to get the same feeling as the original audience, and a good subtitle translation can better serve the target audience. At present, more and more translators begin to pay close attention to this field, combining various theories of Chinese and western translation to guide subtitle translation. This paper attempts to use the French interpretive translation theory to explore English subtitle translation. The text analyzes the subtitle dialogue in the classic movie Godfather, which has won many American Oscars. In the 1960s, after a long period of practice in conference translation, Professor Danica Seleskovic established the theory of interpretation at the Institute of Translation Studies in Paris, France. This theory was first applied to interpretation, conference translation, and then applied to literary translation, scientific translation, and other translation fields by some scholars at home and abroad. Its main view is that the translator's interpretation of the original meaning is supplemented by linguistic symbols and his own cognition; what the translator should pursue is not the equivalence of the linguistic unit, but the equivalence of the original meaning or effect. Interpretation theory points out that translation is not a simple language symbol conversion activity. In the process of translation, translators should first understand the source language, then separate the meaning from the language form, that is, separate from the source language shell, and finally reexpress it. Through the elaboration of the theory of interpretation, this thesis aims to guide the translation of subtitle dialogue with its research results. This thesis consists of three parts: citation, main body and conclusion. The first chapter of the thesis describes the research background, the purpose of the paper and its significance. The second chapter describes the film and television translation, especially the domestic and foreign studies on subtitle translation, as well as the classification and characteristics of subtitle translation. The third chapter is the theoretical basis of this paper, the introduction of French interpretive translation theory, its establishment and development, and the core views of the translation theory. The translation process is divided into three stages: understanding, leaving the shell of the source language, and reexpressing. Chapter four analyzes the translation of English film Godfather subtitles from the perspective of interpretive theory. Chapter five aims at the translation strategies proposed by the translator in subtitle translation. In the last chapter, the author summarizes the whole paper. In the past, some scholars used other translation theories to study subtitle translation. However, in the study of the combination of translation theory and caption text, there are few articles in which interpretation theory is used to guide subtitle translation. This paper attempts to study the translation of English subtitles by using the research results of the interpretive translation theory in the hope that this study will provide some inspiration for the translation of film and television subtitles. Make film subtitle translation more important and give play to its function of cross-cultural communication.
