家庭语言政策与儿童文化认同建构 ——两例民族志个案研究

家庭语言政策是指用来规划家庭成员之间具体的语言管理和语言实践活动(King&Fogle 2013)。当前,针对家庭语言政策与儿童文化认同的研究明显存在不足。本文借助Spolsky(2004)的“语言政策模型”和Darvin与Norton(2015)的“新投资模型”,通过民族志的研究方法,探究在家庭语言政策的影响下,处在语言习得关键期和文化认同关键期的儿童如何建构文化认同。本研究的两组家庭均具有为儿童投资语言学习的“经济资本”,且父母都受过良好的教育。研究结论发现如下:第一,A家庭实行双语教育政策,儿童表现出的文化认一种混合认同,她能较好的区分两种不同的文化,一方面,可以很流利地说着英语,接受西方文化;另一方面,对母语文化有着浓厚的兴趣,喜欢读中国古代故事。B家庭主要以母语学习为主,英语学习存在不连贯性。因此,随着长时间的母语文化教育,该儿童建构了稳固的母语文化认同。第二,家庭语言政策对儿童文化认同有直接作用,父母的语言意识形态在家庭语言政策中起主导作用,并影响儿童的文化认同的建构,家庭的语言管理和投资行为折射了父母对孩子的文化认同;家庭语言政策对儿童母语文化认同是积极维护的,两...
