《点石斋画报》图像叙事中语言与时空表达的关系研究

【摘要】:《点石斋画报》作为晚清画报中的翘楚,有着较为丰富的图像叙事语言。从图像语言类型上讲,它属于具象性的图像语言,它继承了中国传统图像语言的基本样式与表现手法,同时也吸收了当时西洋图像的创作技巧。语言是叙事的媒介,《点石斋画报》丰富的图像语言为其出色地完成图像叙事提供了物质基础。叙事关乎时间、空间两个维度,所以叙事性图像对事件的叙述或再现离不开时间和空间的表达。这样图像叙事或叙事性图像中两个核心要素被突显出来,即图像语言与时空表达。它们是如何共同致力于叙事表达?语言和时空表达之间貌似不言自明的关系背后显现了相关学科对两者关系研究的忽视,本文试从文化哲学的理论视角切入这两者之间的关系研究。因为无论语言还是时空表达都是人的行为方式与存在模式,具有深刻的文化特质。而语言自身又是最具内涵与代表性的文化符号形式,它能够在一定程度上映射人的思维、观念以及行动。时空表达相对于语言系统更具有能动性,它是人们富含着时空思维与实践的行为方式,在文化哲学的学理下易于明晰这两者之间的关系。本文首先梳理了《点石斋画报》图像叙事的文化语境。它是画报图像叙事中语言与时空表达的共同基石。因为晚清上海的城市发展与都市大众文化的勃兴催生了《点石斋画报》,反之画报自身也参与了晚清大众文化的建设。时空观念的革新是晚清都市大众文化特点之一,而时空观念的革新势必会影响到时空表达,这些通过画报的图像语言得以表征。为了明晰《点石斋画报》图像叙事中语言与时空表达的关系,本文主要采取了类型分析法、文本细读法以及图像分析法逐一研究了画报的语言与时空表达。画报的图像语言包括基本语素与图式。此外图像中的大量文字语言也参与了图像叙事。本文依据《点石斋画报》图像叙事中时间的处理方法,类分了时空表达的类型,即单一叙事顷间的时空表达、混合顷间、空间的时空表达以及连续时间的多幅图像叙事的时空表达。在分别梳理了画报图像叙事中语言与时空表达的基础上,本文得出两者之间主要呈现共生与互动关系的结论。共生关系主要表现在图像语言作为时空表达的介质而存在,以及时空表达作为图像语言的修辞。互动关系主要表现在图式与时空表达的互动、语图互动这两个方面。如果说《点石斋画报》图像叙事中语言与时空表达的共生与互动关系,是一种普遍的、一般的关系,那么依据语言相对论理论,本文认为它们还存在一种个别、特殊的关系,这就是语言相对论关系——《点石斋画报》图像语言影响、反映了思维与行动(时空观念与时空表达)。这种影响可分为两个层次,即观念层次与行动层次。观念层次对应为时空观念与视觉思维,行动层次对应为晚清图像叙事的时空表达实践。综上本文的主要结论是:《点石斋画报》作为晚清的文化现象之一,它一定程度上反映了传统儒家文化在遭遇西方近代文化时的冲突与交融。《点石斋画报》所呈现的文化图景,折射了我国传统循环往复、天圆地方的时间、空间观念的松动。对于晚清国人而言这些文化图景具有视觉的现代性启蒙作用,它从视觉层面裂变了中国人的传统视界,重塑了晚清国人的视觉经验;《点石斋画报》图像叙事中语言与时空表达,不仅存在着共生与互动的关系,还存在语言相对论关系。其中语言相对论关系突显了论文研究的文化哲学意义,即图像叙事语言作为一种文化符号形式是文化的高度表征,它反映文化现象背后人的总体性。本文在一定程度上揭示了文化形态与社会之间的固有关系。

The main conclusions in this paper are: "Shi Zhai pictorial" as one of the cultural phenomenon of the late Qing Dynasty, it reflects the cultural landscape of traditional Confucian culture in modern western culture of conflict and blend. Dian Shi Zhai pictorial on the present, reflects the traditional Chinese Tianyuandifang cycle, time and space idea. These loose cultural landscape with modern enlightenment vision in the late Qing Dynasty, Chinese, it is the fission of Chinese traditional view from the visual aspect, remodeling of the late Qing Dynasty were the visual experience; "Shi Zhai pictorial > image narrative language and expression, not only have a symbiotic relationship and interaction, there are linguistic relativity. The linguistic relativity relationship highlights the significance of the research of cultural philosophy, That is, image narrative language, as a form of cultural symbol, is highly representative of culture. It reflects the totality of people behind cultural phenomenon. This paper reveals the inherent relationship between cultural form and society to a certain extent.
