从主述位角度看文学翻译

【摘要】: 本文旨在从主述位角度出发探讨文学作品的翻译,文中的举例多取自小说以及散文集。文学翻译和政治翻译以及科技翻译等实用翻译的一点不同在于文学翻译更讲究语言的丰富多彩、句子结构的变化以及情感的酝酿起伏以推动剧情的发展,主述位在这一方面起着比较重要的作用:小句中主述位的选择以及篇章中主述位的衔接都必须服务于情节的开展和上下文的连贯与衔接。 本文从小句、语气以及篇章的主位推进模式探讨主述位尤其是有标记主位的修辞美感和相应的翻译技巧;有标记主位的出现往往是为了达到强调、对比、讽刺、衔接、节奏感、尾重(句子结构平衡)等效果,并提出在翻译中既要照顾到小句中有标记主位的修辞效果,又要注意目的语的表达习惯,同时还要考虑上下文语境等问题,有意识的使用有标记主位在翻译中具有独树一帜、打破常规的作用,有利于提高翻译的水平。 本文采用徐盛桓的四种主位推进模式(邓森2003:289-290)进行篇章翻译分析,这四种模式分别为平行型、集中型、延续型和交叉型的发展,任何篇章都不是由某一个单一的主位推进模式建构的,而是由几种模式互相配置以推进篇章的发展。本文试图通过对汉英两种语言中的话语分析来对两种语言中主位推进模式的频率加以比较,发现平行模式和延续性模式出现的频率较多,在两种语言的翻译中往往可以保持原有的推进模式;而汉语中的集中型则比英语中出现得更为频繁,因此在英汉翻译中往往可以保留原有集中型推进模式以加强语气,起到强调作用,而在汉英翻译中则要注意英语的表达习惯,联系上下文判断保留原有模式是否会显得突兀、累赘。交叉型推进模式在两种语言中都相对较少,在翻译中则要根据具体情况分析。
[Abstract]:This paper aims to explore the translation of literary works from the perspective of theme and rheme. One difference between literary translation and practical translation, such as political translation and scientific translation, is that literary translation pays more attention to the richness of language. The change of sentence structure and the rise and fall of emotion in order to promote the development of the plot, Theme and rheme play an important role in this respect: the choice of theme and rheme in a clause and the cohesion of theme and rheme in a text must serve the development of the plot and the coherence and cohesion of the context. This paper discusses the rhetorical beauty and translation skills of theme, especially marked theme, from the perspective of clause, mood and thematic progression, and the appearance of marked theme in order to achieve emphasis, contrast, irony and cohesion. It is suggested that the rhetorical effects of the marked theme in the clause should be taken into account as well as the expressing habits of the target language and the context should be taken into account in the translation. The conscious use of marked themes is unique in translation and helps to improve the level of translation. This paper uses Xu Shenghuan's four thematic progression models (Denson 2003: 289-290) to analyze the text translation. The four models are parallel, centralized, continuation and cross-type development. No chapter is constructed by a single thematic progression model. This paper attempts to compare the frequency of thematic progression patterns between Chinese and English through discourse analysis in both Chinese and English. It is found that parallel patterns and continuity patterns occur more frequently than in English, and that they tend to maintain their original propulsive patterns in translation, while the concentration patterns in Chinese appear more frequently than in English. Therefore, in English-Chinese translation, we can often retain the original intensive push mode to strengthen the tone and play an important role, while in Chinese-English translation, we should pay attention to the expression habits of English and judge whether the original mode is abrupt or not by referring to the context. The cross-propelling mode is relatively few in both languages, and should be analyzed according to the specific situation in translation.
