文学文体学在小说翻译中的应用

【摘要】： 普遍认为,文学文体学与文学翻译密切关联,但大多数译者在翻译实践中并未真正结合此两者,以提升翻译实效。译者经常采用的所谓文体学的翻译方法也无非是其本人对文学作品中文体特征的直观感知,而缺乏一套可指导翻译实践、可实际操作、更加客观的文体学翻译方法。就文学作品尤其是小说作品而言,文体特征在很大程度上表现了小说本身的文学价值,因而对于以小说作品为对象的译者来说,恰当地处理小说作品中的文体特征关系到翻译之成败。本文试图从文学文体学的角度探讨小说翻译,并通过对简.奥斯丁的小说《傲慢与偏见》两个中译本的对比研究,进一步论证文学文体学在小说翻译中的有效性。首先,这篇论文准确地给出风格的定义,认为风格是作者由美学或是主题意义激发的选择(申丹,1998,p.17)。其次,本文以简·奥斯丁的代表作《傲慢与偏见》的源语文本及王科一和孙致礼的两部中译本为对象,选择了《傲慢与偏见》中在词汇和句法层面上典型的例子,利用文学文体学的方法进行分析说明由于某些译者对文体手段的忽略或不敏感而无法准确传达原文风格,进而证明在小说翻译中应用文体分析方法的必要性和有效性。另一方面,这篇论文并不打算提供详尽的文体分析手段。因此,只挑选了典型的几个方面用以说明文体方法如何操作以及如何有效识别文体手段。
[Abstract]:It is generally believed that literary stylistics is closely related to literary translation, but most translators do not really combine the two in translation practice in order to improve translation effectiveness.The so-called stylistic translation method often used by translators is no more than their own intuitive perception of the characteristics of Chinese style in literary works, but there is a lack of a set of translation methods which can guide translation practice, be practical, and be more objective in stylistic translation.As far as literary works, especially novels, are concerned, the stylistic features to a great extent represent the literary value of the novel itself.Proper handling of stylistic features in fiction works is related to the success or failure of translation.This paper attempts to explore the translation of novels from the perspective of literary stylistics.A comparative study of the two Chinese versions of Austen's novel Pride and Prejudice further demonstrates the validity of literary stylistics in novel translation.First of all, this paper gives an accurate definition of style, thinking that style is the author's choice inspired by aesthetics or thematic meaning.Secondly, taking Jane Austen's masterpiece Pride and Prejudice as the source language and two Chinese versions of Wang Keyi and Sun Zhili, this paper chooses the typical lexical and syntactic examples of Pride and Prejudice.Through the analysis of literary stylistics, it is shown that some translators are unable to convey the original style accurately because of their neglect or insensitivity to stylistic means, thus proving the necessity and effectiveness of applying stylistic analysis in novel translation.On the other hand, this paper is not intended to provide detailed stylistic analysis.Therefore, only a few typical aspects are selected to illustrate how stylistic methods operate and how to identify stylistic means effectively.
