改写理论下《爱情故事》两个译本的对比研究

【摘要】:三十多年来,翻译理论研究取得了迅猛的发展,研究视角也变得越发多元化。20世纪90年代,翻译理论家勒菲佛尔和巴斯奈特在其合著的《翻译、历史与文化论集》中正式提出“文化转向”一词,这使得翻译的研究不单单局限于语言层面上,而是将其置于文化背景中进行研究。勒菲佛尔认为翻译是对原作的“改写”,或是一种“操控”,翻译不能真实地反映原作的面貌主要是因为它始终受到一些外部因素的制约,如社会意识形态,诗学观念和赞助人的影响。研究这种外部因素对操纵者的客观影响,分析译文所打出的不同政治时代的烙印,使之从史学的角度洞悉翻译操作的原则性演变过程,从而对翻译的进程和实质做出合理性的界定。 《爱情故事》正如书名所述,讲述的是一对年轻男女感伤的爱情故事,作者以其优美的文字和动人的情节打动了整整一代读者。此书由荣如德于1973年第一次翻译,且为当时所引介的唯一一部美国爱情小说,此为中国的文革时期,阶级斗争为中心的意识形态特征及当时论美为封、资、修的诗学观念无不在译本上留下制约的痕迹。为适应西方文学引进的客观环境,该小说又陆续出版了四个译本,其中以王东风和王悦晨合译的版本最具代表性。 本文在改写理论的指导下,通过对比荣如德和王东风译本中的措辞、句式、序论和注脚等,发现译文在不同的历史背景下,,确实在某种程度上受到意识形态和诗学观念的操控。这种操控虽只限于字面措辞等显性层面,其实质却表明了翻译者所持有的社会服务指向性和特殊性。这使我们不得不认识到在评论不同译本时,不应只考虑语言层面的优劣,对于文化历史背景的考虑也是至关重要的,这同时也预示着好的文学作品具有无限的解释力和生命力这一客观事实。
[Abstract]:Over the past 30 years, the study of translation theory has made rapid development, and the perspective of the study has become more and more diversified. In the 1990s, the translation theorists Lefevere and Basnette co-authored "Translation".The term "cultural turn" is formally proposed in the Collection of History and Culture, which makes the study of translation not only on the linguistic level, but also in the context of culture.Lefevere believes that translation is a "rewriting" or "manipulation" of the original, and that translation cannot truly reflect the face of the original mainly because it is always constrained by external factors, such as social ideology.The concept of poetics and the influence of patrons.This paper studies the objective influence of this external factor on the operator, analyzes the brand of different political times in the translation, and makes it understand the process of the principle evolution of translation operation from the perspective of history.Thus, the process and essence of translation are defined rationally.Love Story, as the title of the book tells, is a sad love story between a young man and a woman. The author has touched a whole generation of readers with its beautiful words and moving plot.This book was first translated by Roussete in 1973 and was the only American love novel introduced at that time. This was the ideological feature of the Chinese Cultural Revolution, the center of class struggle, and the discussion of the United States at that time.Xiu's concept of poetics leaves a trace of restriction on the translation.In order to adapt to the objective environment of the introduction of western literature, four versions of the novel have been published one after another, of which Wang Dongfeng and Wang Yuechen are the most representative.Under the guidance of rewriting theory, by comparing the wording, sentence structure, preface theory and footnotes in the translation of Rong Ru-de and Wang Dongfeng, this paper finds that the translation is indeed controlled to some extent by ideology and poetics in different historical backgrounds.Although this manipulation is limited to explicit aspects such as literal words, its essence shows the orientation and particularity of social services held by translators.This makes us realize that in commenting on different versions, we should not only consider the merits and demerits of the language level, but also consider the cultural and historical background.At the same time, it also indicates the objective fact that good literary works have infinite explanatory power and vitality.
