顺应论视角下《雪花与秘密的扇子》的异语创作与无根回译研究

【摘要】:异语创作是隐形的跨语言跨文化中译英现象,是一种文化翻译写作;无根回译是跨语言文化内的英译中翻译。Snow Flower and the Secret Fan是美国2005年畅销书,是用英语写成的有关中国文化的小说,属于异语创作,而它的中文翻译属于无根回译。它的创作涉及大量中国民俗风情节日地理和俗语经典等,对它的异语创作与无根回译进行探讨,有利于中国元素的传播。本研究以邝丽莎的英文小说Snow Flower and the Secret Fan与忻元洁中译本为研究对象,以顺应论的核心思想——语言使用是不断做出选择与顺应的过程作为理论基础,探讨中英文版本在异语创作与无根回译的过程中,作者和译者所做出的语言选择与翻译方法选择,以及这些选择是顺应原语语境还是译语语境,旨在探讨作者在异语创作中如何跨语言跨文化表现中国文化,以及译者在无根回译中如何重构中国读者熟悉的中国文化。 本研究发现:1)在Snow Flower and the Secret Fan的异语创作过程中,其语言选择在宏观方面,作者选择使用互文,文内解释和副标题;在微观方面,作者选择大量使用斜体的汉语拼音,创造性的中式英语,形象化词语,中式修辞等,同时也有少量英语独有的同音词修辞习语。在翻译方法选择方面,主要有:音译、直译、意译、替代和合译。2)在Snow Flower and the SecretFan的无根回译过程中,其语言选择在宏观方面,译者在章节层面添加目录页,,选择原文中的副标题作为主标题;在微观方面,译者选择大量使用四字格,文化负载词,具体词和少量文言文。在翻译方法选择方面,主要有:替代、省略、增词、意译和直译。3)在Snow Flower and theSecret Fan的异语创作过程中,其语言选择与翻译方法选择以顺应原语为主,而在无根回译过程中,其语言选择与翻译方法选择以顺应译语为主。4)中英文版本的作者和译者做出的任何语言选择和翻译方法选择都是为了顺应现代中英文目标语读者。此项研究结果对同类文本的研究有启示意义:在异语创作过程中,可以选择音译,直译,形象化词语等,灵活运用意译,互文,解释等,以保持中国文化的原味并让读者理解接受;在无根回译过程中,翻译方法可选择替代,省略等,语言上可选择四字格,文化词等,尽量避免翻译腔,使语言地道准确流畅。
[Abstract]:Interlanguage creation is an invisible cross-cultural phenomenon in English translation, which is a kind of cultural translation writing, and rootless translation is a cross-cultural translation of English translation. Snow Flower and the Secret Fan is the best seller in the United States in 2005.Is a novel about Chinese culture written in English, belongs to the foreign language creation, and its Chinese translation belongs to the rootless translation.Its creation involves a large number of Chinese folk customs?Holiday geography and colloquial classics are beneficial to the spread of Chinese elements.The present study focuses on the Chinese versions of Snow Flower and the Secret Fan and Xin Yuanjie, and takes the core idea of adaptation theory, which is the process of making choices and adaptations, as the theoretical basis.This paper probes into the language choices and translation methods made by the author and the translator in the process of foreign language creation and rootless translation, and whether these choices are adapted to the context of the source language or the context of the target language.The purpose of this paper is to explore how the author expresses Chinese culture across languages and cultures in his foreign language creation and how the translator reconstructs the familiar Chinese culture in rootless translation.This study found that in the process of Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, the author chose to use intertextuality, explanation and subtitle in macro aspect, and in microscopic aspect, he chose to use italics in Chinese Pinyin.Creative Chinglish, visualized words, Chinglish rhetoric, and a few homonyms unique to English?Rhetoric?An idiom.In the selection of translation methods, there are mainly transliteration, literal translation, free translation, substitution and cotranslation. 2) in the process of Snow Flower and the SecretFan's rootless backtranslation, the language choice is macroscopic, and the translator adds directory pages at the chapter level.The subtitle in the original text is chosen as the main title, while in the micro aspect, the translator chooses to use a large number of four-character boxes, culture-loaded words, concrete words and a small amount of classical Chinese.In the selection of translation methods, there are three main aspects: substitution, ellipsis, addition of words, free translation and literal translation. In the process of Snow Flower and theSecret Fan, the choice of language and method of translation is the adaptation of the source language, while in the process of rootless backtranslation.Any choice of language and translation method made by the author and translator of the Chinese and English versions is for the purpose of adapting to the target language readers of modern Chinese and English.The results of this study are instructive to the study of similar texts: transliteration, literal translation, visualized words, etc., flexible use of free translation, intertextuality, interpretation, etc.In order to keep the original taste of Chinese culture and make the readers understand and accept it, in the process of rootless translation, the translation method can be replaced, omitted and so on, and the four-character lattice and cultural words can be chosen in the language, so as to avoid the translation cavity as far as possible, so as to make the language accurate and fluent.
