从功能语法角度论霍克思译本中王熙凤个性化语言的翻译

【摘要】： 刻画人物性格,塑造人物形象是小说创作的技巧之一。小说中人物的个性化语言可以成功表现人物性格和人物形象。翻译是两种语言之间的转换。通过对人物对话的理解,译语读者能否解读和原语一致的人物形象,直接影响着译文的翻译质量。中国古典名著《红楼梦》中人物的语言没有脱离他们自己身份的。王熙凤是《红楼梦》中个性明显的重要人物,历来受到学者的关注。本文以系统功能语言学的三大纯理功能之一,即人际功能为理论基础,通过对红楼梦及其英译本(霍克斯,闵福德译本)的分析对王熙凤个性化语言的翻译作一探讨性研究。 功能语言学是现代语言学两大流派之一,注重语言的社会性研究。人际功能是用来反应人与人之间的关系,具有表达讲话者的身份、地位、态度、动机以及对事物的推断等功能,或是反应说话人与听话人之间的社会地位和亲疏关系。人际功能主要由语气,情态及评价系统等实现。韩礼德把决定语言使用的情境分为三类(语场、语旨、语式),而决定人际功能的是语旨。本文将从三各方面分析王熙凤的语言并看译文是否与原文中所反应的王熙凤的地位,性格及特殊的时间场合相一致。 以人际意义为理论框架,通过对霍克斯译本中王熙凤话语的分析,本文试图表明:译文是通过何种手段来忠实的反应了原文要反应的人际意义,即在交际过程中话语参与者如何通过对话实现交际的目的、意图,符合特定的时间场合,符合自己的身份地位和人物性格,从而深刻刻画王熙凤这样一个善于把握与对话者的人际意义来实现成功交际的形象。
[Abstract]:Portraying character and image is one of the techniques of novel creation. The personalization language of the characters in the novel can successfully express the character and image of the characters. Translation is a conversion between two languages. Through the understanding of the character dialogue, whether the target language reader can interpret the character image consistent with the source language directly affects the translation quality of the target text. The language of the characters in the classic Chinese masterpiece A Dream of Red Mansions is not divorced from their identity. Wang Xifeng is an important figure with obvious personality in A Dream of Red Mansions. Based on one of the three pure theoretical functions of systemic functional linguistics, interpersonal function, this paper makes an exploratory study on the translation of Wang Xifeng's individualized language through the analysis of the Dream of Red Mansions and its English translation (Hawks, Minford version). Functional linguistics is one of the two major schools of modern linguistics, focusing on the sociality of language. Interpersonal function is used to reflect the relationship between people. It can express the identity, status, attitude, motivation and inference of things of the speaker, or reflect the social status and affinity between the speaker and the hearer. Interpersonal function is mainly realized by mood, modality and evaluation system. Halliday divides the situations that determine language use into three categories (field, tenor, style), while tenor determines interpersonal function. This paper will analyze Wang Xifeng's language from three aspects and see if the translation is consistent with Wang Xifeng's position, character and special time and occasion as reflected in the original text. Based on the theoretical framework of interpersonal meaning and the analysis of Wang Xifeng's discourse in Hawkes' translation, this paper attempts to show how the translation faithfully reflects the interpersonal meaning of the original text. That is, in the process of communication, the discourse participants how to achieve the purpose, intention, time and occasion, identity and character of their own through dialogue. Thus deeply depict Wang Xifeng, who is good at grasping the interpersonal meaning of interlocutors to realize successful communication.
