从目的论的角度比较分析福尔摩斯探案全集的两个译本

【摘要】:清朝末年,中国处在一个动荡的年代,先进的知识分子希望能通过翻译西方的作品来拯救国家。1916年中华书局整理出版的《福尔摩斯探案全集》,一出版就大量发售,市场长期处于供不应求的状态。其后1981年群众出版社出版的《福尔摩斯探案全集》再一次掀起了侦探小说的浪潮。到2002年群众出版社的版本已经出版了5版,重复印刷了19次,总销售量达到414000套,这足以说明读者对于福尔摩斯的喜爱。 但是与它刚刚出现于中国文坛上时的热闹景象形成鲜明对比,《福尔摩斯探案全集》在其后的很长一段时间被文学界冷落。因为它属于通俗文学,礼拜六的帽子更是久摘不去,文学界对它的研究更是少之又少。笔者出于这种考虑,更是因为本身对于侦探小说深深的喜爱,愿意做一个小小的尝试,从目的论的角度分析研究福尔摩斯探案全集。在目的论中,翻译是一种有目的的行为,一种跨文化的交际活动,翻译目的决定翻译方法。目的论包括三个原则:目的原则、篇内连贯原则和篇际连贯原则。根据目的原则,翻译行为是由行为的目的决定的,即“目的决定手段”;根据篇内连贯原则,译文应该内在连贯,符合目标语读者的语言、文化认知环境,能为其所接受;篇际原则表明了原文和译文之间的关系。这三个原则的关系表现为:目的论是最高原则,,篇内连贯和篇际连贯都从属于目的原则。 笔者在前人研究的基础上,在目的论指导下对福尔摩斯探案全集的翻译进行动态的、深入的研究探讨。从归化异化和直译意译的角度对这两个版本进行了对比分析。分析发现,中华书局的译本更多的使用归化和意译的翻译策略,而1981年群众出版社出版的译本更多的使用的是异化和直译的翻译策略,该译本更忠实于原文。
[Abstract]:In the late Qing Dynasty, China was in a turbulent period, and advanced intellectuals hoped to save the country by translating western works. The complete Sherlock Holmes case, which was compiled and published by Zhonghua Book Company in 1916, went on sale in large quantities as soon as it was published. The market is in short supply for a long time. Then, in 1981, Sherlock Holmes, published by Mass Publishing House, once again set off a wave of detective stories. By 2002, the popular Press had published five editions, reprinted 19 times, and sold 414000 copies, enough to illustrate the reader's fondness for Holmes. But in contrast to the bustling scene it just appeared in the Chinese literary world, Sherlock Holmes' full book was left out for a long time. Because it belongs to popular literature, Saturday's hat is too long to pick, and literary research on it is even less. For this reason, the author is willing to make a small attempt to analyze and study Sherlock Holmes' complete works from the perspective of teleology, especially because of his deep love for detective stories. In Skopos Theory, translation is a kind of purposeful behavior, a kind of cross-cultural communicative activity, and translation purpose determines the method of translation. Skopos theory consists of three principles: the purpose principle, the intra-textual coherence principle and the intertextual coherence principle. According to the principle of purpose, the act of translation is determined by the purpose of the act, that is, "the means of the purpose", and according to the principle of intra-text coherence, the translation should be intrinsically coherent, consistent with the language and cultural cognitive environment of the target language reader, and acceptable to the target language reader. The intertextual principle shows the relationship between the original text and the translation. The relations among the three principles are as follows: Skopos theory is the highest principle, and both intra-and inter-textual coherence are subordinate to the purpose principle. On the basis of previous studies and under the guidance of Skopos Theory, the author makes a dynamic and in-depth study on the translation of Sherlock Holmes' full book. This paper makes a contrastive analysis of the two versions from the perspective of domestication and foreignization and literal translation. It is found that the translation strategies of domestication and free translation are more frequently used in the translation of the Chinese Book Company, and the translation strategies of foreignization and literal translation are more frequently used in the translations published by the Mass Publishing House in 1981, and this translation is more faithful to the original text.
