【摘要】：正大都会艺术博物馆(The Metropolitan Museum of Art)由一群包括商人、律师、艺术家以及几位纽约市政官员在内的普通公民组织筹建,于1870年正式成立,是美国首批艺术博物馆之一。成立之初,创始人主张将这座新机构定位为主要展现艺术美、提供艺术教育和道德熏陶的场所。博物馆最初的馆址位于第五大道下街的一幢小楼,其第一件藏品是购入的3世纪的一副罗马石棺。
[Abstract]:Founded in 1870 by a group of ordinary citizens, including businessmen, lawyers, artists and several New York city officials, the Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Metropolitan Museum of Art) was one of the first art museums in the United States. At the beginning of its founding, the founder advocated that the new institution should be positioned as a place to display artistic beauty and provide artistic education and moral edification. The museum was originally located in a small building on Fifth Avenue Lower Street. Its first collection was a third-century Roman sarcophagus.
