论《荒原》的多重声音

T.S.艾略特被公认为英美现代派诗歌的领军人物。作为诺贝尔文学奖的折桂者以及当之无愧的现代主义运动领航者,他在诗歌、戏剧以及文学批评方面皆有建树。自1917年其第一本诗集出版以来,艾略特逐步摆脱了早期评论界对其作品的抨击和讥讽而成为二十世纪最负盛名的诗人、文学理论家和剧作家。其代表作《荒原》更是被尊为二十世纪现代诗歌的里程碑和典范。《荒原》以其独特的表现手法、大胆的结构、新颖的比喻和用典,多视域、多层次地展现了一战后西方人的悲观失望、迷茫空虚的异化社会情绪,并以其独特的拼贴式结构镶嵌出一幅多声交汇、哲理杂陈的画卷。本文在整理和回顾国内外研究成果的基础上,试对《荒原》中抒情主体的复杂多变性以及由此发出的不同声音之间的关系进行解读。在文学批评中,声音是指文学作品中由不同人物、不同叙述者或隐含的作者所发出的声音。在许多现代作品中,传统小说中经常由作者自己或由特定叙述者进行叙述的方式已日趋淡化;但在细读文本时,读者仍能够感知到有一个隐含的作者,他似乎无所不在,安排、操纵着作品中的人物。艾略特的《荒原》就是一部由多重声音构筑的长诗。它不是简单的个人独白,更象是一部多声部的宏伟乐章。在其中听众（读...
