【摘要】：近些年来,翻译共性作为翻译界研究的新领域,引发了国内外学者的致力探讨,而提及翻译的共性,则不可避免地会涉及翻译的显化和隐化。显化又称明晰化,指译文以更明显的言语形式来表述原文信息,隐化则与显化相反。二者在翻译中的普遍存在显而易见。近年来,关于显化与隐化,许多学者都致力于基于语料库的普遍性研究,多为描述性和归纳性的研究。这些研究客观地比较某两种语言,力图从该两种语言及其信息或两种语言所处的文化层面来分析阐释显化与隐化的产生原因,却忽视了翻译过程中的一个至关重要的主体——译者。 随着翻译理论研究的发展和人文主义的复苏,以及翻译理论界的“文化转向”,翻译界掀起了译者主体性研究的热潮,译者的重要地位不再被忽视,从传统的“媒人”“仆人”这种边缘化的地位,上升到了中心地位。近年来国内外学者纷纷从不同视角诸如多元系统理论、操纵理论、阐释学、解构主义、女性主义、后殖民主义等论述译者主体性存在的客观性及相关原则。翻译研究也越来越重视译者的审美观、文化立场、翻译目的、翻译原则等因素在翻译活动中的影响。 作者认为,在显化和隐化这两个翻译普遍现象中,译者主体性因素的挖掘亦有着深刻的意义。因此,有别于传统的基于语料库对翻译中的显化和隐化进行语言共性研究的做法,本文试从语言层面转换到译者的角度来分析、探讨并解释翻译中出现显化和隐化现象的原因,并以杨宪益译著《儒林外史》为个案,挖掘并剖析译者主体性对作者在翻译过程中采取显化或隐化的潜在影响。 全文共分为六个部分。引言部分说明了本研究的动机、背景及意义。第一章介绍了本论文的研究对象——翻译中的显化和隐化现象,主要包括国内外在该领域所作研究、二者的定义、分类以及产生原由。第二章讨论了本文的理论框架——译者主体性,主要阐述了其内涵、发展及影响因素。第三章从译者主体性的角度对本论文研究的译者杨宪益进行了具体的分析研究。第四章,即杨宪益译著《儒林外史》个案分析部分,论证了在各类显隐化中译者主体性的影响。在结论部分,作者得出,在翻译的显化与隐化发生过程中,除了前人所研究的语言文化等方面的因素,译者主体性也发挥着不可忽视的重要作用。译者的源语与的语的理解表达能力、伦理道德观念、审美情趣、文化立场、翻译主张和翻译动机,均对其在语言及文化元素的显化和隐化策略选取中有着深远的影响。
