以《儒林外史》英译本为例看文学翻译中的文化缺省及其补偿策略

【摘要】：《儒林外史》是一部清朝小说，它是中国文学的经典杰作之一，由吴敬梓所著。《儒林外史》以其杰出的思想性和艺术成就，在国外受到广泛欢迎。目前有英、法、德、俄、日等译本。在本文中，笔者以关联理论为指导，从著名学者杨宪益和戴乃迭夫妇所译《儒林外史》的英译本的翻译实践中详细探讨了文化缺省及其翻译补偿策略，并已经发现关联理论中的四个概念有助于指导分析《儒林外史》翻译中的文化缺省现象。然后笔者将杨氏夫妇所译版本中的文化缺省以尤金奈达的文化定义为依据归为五大类，即生态文化缺省，物质文化缺省，社会文化缺省，宗教文化缺省和语言文化缺省。通过比较发现了一些补偿方式已被采用在这个译本的文化缺省中，并且笔者在进一步的研究中发现了从关联理论的角度可以完全解释补偿的动机行为，，如：因为处理努力的注释补偿法，因为最佳关联的转移补偿法，因为语境效果的优势补偿法，因为明示-推理交际的省略补偿法等。基于以上研究和发现，笔者得出了这样一个结论，即运用关联理论作为指导，可以对中国文学作品翻译中的文化缺省现象以及如何采用补偿策略等进行有益的分析，以便从中找到一些实用的翻译策略。
[Abstract]:< > rulinwaishi is a novel of Qing Dynasty, it is one of the masterpieces of classical literature by China, written by Wu Jingzi. The scholars "with its outstanding ideological and artistic achievements, is popular in foreign countries. There are English, German, Russian, Japanese, and other versions.
In this paper, the author with the guidance of relevance theory, discusses the cultural default and translation compensation strategies from the translation practice of English versions of the famous scholar Yang Xianyi and Dai Naidie translated by scholars in the < >, and have found four concepts in relevance theory helps to guide the analysis of "the phenomenon of cultural default translation > rulinwaishi in.
Then the Yangs' translation of cultural default version of the definition of culture by Eugene Nida is based on classified into five categories, namely ecological cultural default, cultural default, cultural default, religious cultural default and language cultural default. By comparing some compensation methods have been adopted in the translation of cultural default and, the author further studies that can be fully explained by motivation, compensation from the perspective of relevance theory such as: because the annotation method of compensation processing effort, because the shift compensation method of the optimal relevance, because the advantages of compensation method of contextual effect, because ostensive inferential communication omission compensation method.
Based on the above research and discovery, the author draws a conclusion, namely the application of relevance theory as a guide to the phenomenon of cultural default in translation China in literary works and how to use compensation strategies are useful for analysis, in order to find some practical translation strategies from it.
