从勒菲弗尔的操控论看葛浩文英译本《狼图腾》

【摘要】：操纵派领军人物勒菲弗尔在多元系统理论的启发下,采用文化研究模式,把赞助人、社会条件、经济操纵等文学以外诸因素引入翻译研究。他认为,翻译不是在真空中进行的,而且单靠语言学是不能解决所有翻译问题的。翻译除了受语言因素制约,还受到语言以外社会、文化、政治诸如诗学、赞助、意识形态等因素操控。翻译实质上就是译者在主流诗学、赞助、意识形态的影响下,对原文的暴力操控与改写。勒菲弗尔的操控理论得到了许多中国翻译研究者的关注。这个理论可以很好地解释翻译中的重译和误译现象,使人们了解到,这些“不忠实的”翻译其实也是这些操控因素共同作用的结果。《狼图腾》是由学者姜戎据其亲身经历所写的一本风靡中国的畅销小说,自2004年出版以来便获得了广泛的关注。2008年该书由美国著名汉学家葛浩文教授译为英文,然而,其译本自出版以来还未获得国内外的广泛关注和研究。对于《狼图腾》这样“一部深切关注人类土地家园的,以灵魂回应灵魂之书”(雷达,2005：4),无论是其中文版还是英文版都是值得关注和研究的。本文拟运用勒菲弗尔的操控论,以葛浩文译本《狼图腾》作为研究对象,分析隐藏在翻译背后操控翻译的各种政治、文化以及社会等操控因素,探讨诗学、赞助人、意识形态等如何操控文本选材和翻译策略以及翻译结果。在研究方法上,本文采取了理论联系实际的方法,综合分析,探求葛浩文译《狼图腾》的多种操控制约因素,分析葛浩文如何运用不同的翻译策略操控原文本,从而达到其翻译能够让目的语读者欣然接受。对于葛浩文译本的评价及其社会影响的介绍,则采取一种描述性的方法,以期待对于葛浩文译本《狼图腾》的社会影响做处比较客观的评价。本文提出的结论是要想获得成功的文化交流,即获得翻译的成功,译本必须将当时的诗学、赞助人和意识形态纳入考虑范围之内。另外,操控论不仅能对《狼图腾》翻译这一翻译活动做出令人信服的解释,加深我们对《狼图腾》译本的认识,而且还能对今后的翻译实践提供具体的指导。
[Abstract]:Inspired by the pluralistic system theory, Lefevere, the leading figure of the manipulators, adopts the cultural research model to introduce the factors other than literature, such as patronage, social conditions and economic manipulation, into translation studies. Translation, he argues, does not take place in a vacuum, and linguistics alone cannot solve all translation problems. Translation is not only restricted by linguistic factors, but also controlled by social, cultural and political factors, such as poetics, sponsorship, ideology and so on. Translation, in essence, is the violent manipulation and rewriting of the original text by the translator under the influence of the mainstream poetics, sponsorship and ideology. Lefevere's manipulation theory has attracted the attention of many Chinese translation researchers. This theory can well explain the phenomenon of retranslation and mistranslation in translation, and make people understand that, These "unfaithful" translations are also the result of these manipulative factors. Wolf Totem is a popular novel written by scholar Jiang Rong according to his own experience. Since its publication in 2004, the book has received extensive attention. In 2008, the book was translated into English by the famous American Sinologist Professor Geoffrey. However, its translation has not received extensive attention and research at home and abroad since its publication. For Wolf Totem, a Book of Soul in response to Human Land and Homeland (Radar / 2005: 4), whether in Chinese or in English, is worthy of attention and study. This paper uses Lefevere's manipulation theory, taking the translation of Wolf Totem as the object of study, analyzes the political, cultural and social manipulation factors underlying the manipulation of translation, and probes into poetics and patronage. Ideology and how to manipulate text selection, translation strategies and translation results. In terms of research methods, this paper adopts a theoretical and practical approach, comprehensively analyzes the various manipulation constraints in the translation of Wolf Totem, and analyzes how different translation strategies are used to manipulate the original text. Therefore, its translation can be accepted by the target language readers. For the evaluation of the translation and the introduction of its social impact, a descriptive method is adopted to look forward to an objective evaluation of the social impact of the translation of the wolf totem. The conclusion is that in order to achieve a successful cultural exchange, that is, translation, the translation must take into account the poetics, patronage and ideology of the time. In addition, manipulation theory can not only give a convincing explanation to the translation of the wolf totem, but also provide concrete guidance to the translation practice in the future.
