《骆驼祥子》英译的概念隐喻研究

【摘要】:中西方对隐喻的研究源远流长。传统的隐喻研究把隐喻作为一种语言现象和修辞手段。而概念隐喻认为,隐喻不仅仅是一种语言现象,更是一种认知手段和思维方式,是人类将其某一领域的经验用来说明或理解另一领域经验的一种认知活动。隐喻在日常生活中无处不在,我们用来思考和行动的日常概念系统,在本质上也是隐喻性的。概念隐喻理论的发展为人们理解隐喻提供了一个新的视角,也触发人们从认知语言学的角度重新审视和探讨隐喻的翻译。 通过比较和归纳,我们发现英汉语言之间存在相同的概念隐喻、相似的概念隐喻和文化限定性的概念隐喻。 《骆驼祥子》是现代中国一部杰出的长篇小说,其中大量的隐喻为小说增色不少,施晓菁译本对隐喻的处理也恰如其分。本文作者从文中选取出“人”和“心”两大隐喻系统,并从概念隐喻角度分析了其翻译,从而得出“相同的概念隐喻映射的隐喻表达式”为译者提供了极大的方便,能获得最大程度的对等。而“相似的概念隐喻映射的隐喻表达式”和“文化限定性概念隐喻映射的隐喻表达式”则无法产生与源语隐喻相同的认知模式,会导致部分意义的偏离或丧失。因此,翻译时,译者最好尽可能的保持源语隐喻的认知模式,以保证目标语读者获得与源语读者尽可能相同的反应。 通过对施晓菁译本中的隐喻翻译的描述性研究,我们发现译者在隐喻翻译过程中尽量采用“相同的概念隐喻映射的隐喻表达式”这一翻译方法。然而,由于英汉语中大量相似和文化限定性概念隐喻的存在,译者巧妙的应用其他两种翻译方法,尽量保留源隐喻的认知模式,减少意义的偏离或丧失,值得研究与学习。
[Abstract]:The study of metaphor in China and the West has a long history. Traditional metaphor studies regard metaphor as a linguistic phenomenon and a rhetorical device. Conceptual metaphor holds that metaphor is not only a linguistic phenomenon, but also a cognitive means and a mode of thinking. It is a cognitive activity in which human beings use their experience in one field to explain or understand the experience of another. Metaphor is ubiquitous in daily life, and the daily conceptual system we use to think and act is metaphorical in nature. The development of conceptual metaphor theory not only provides a new perspective for people to understand metaphor, but also triggers people to re-examine and explore the translation of metaphor from the perspective of cognitive linguistics. Through comparison and induction, we find that there are the same conceptual metaphors, similar conceptual metaphors and culturally qualified conceptual metaphors between English and Chinese languages. Among them, a large number of metaphors add color to the novel, and Shi Xiaojing's translation deals with metaphor appropriately. The author selects two metaphorical systems, "human" and "heart", and analyzes their translation from the perspective of conceptual metaphor, and concludes that "the same metaphorical expression of conceptual metaphor mapping" provides great convenience for the translator. The maximum degree of parity can be achieved. On the other hand, "metaphor expression of similar conceptual metaphor mapping" and "metaphorical expression of cultural limited conceptual metaphor mapping" can not produce the same cognitive pattern as source metaphor, which will lead to the deviation or loss of some meanings. Therefore, the translator should maintain the cognitive pattern of the source metaphor as much as possible in order to ensure that the target language readers can get the same reaction as the source language readers. Through a descriptive study of the metaphorical translation in Shi Xiaojing's translation, we find that the translator tries to adopt the translation method of "the same conceptual metaphorical mapping metaphorical expression" in the process of metaphorical translation. However, due to the existence of a large number of similar and culturally restrictive conceptual metaphors in English and Chinese, the translator skillfully applies the other two translation methods to keep the cognitive model of source metaphor as far as possible and reduce the deviation or loss of meaning, which is worthy of study and study.
