话语变异与文学翻译

【摘要】： 本文旨在应用库克的话语变异理论于文学翻译中，来提高文学翻译的质量，亦即提高 译品的文学性。库克认为文学的主要功能在于其认知功能，即能够复现并改变人们对世界 的主观感受，而这一功能的实现是通过话语变异实现的，即可以通过作品中的形式变异（语 言与文本结构变异）与读者心理图式的互动作用，破坏原有的图式，建立新的图式，或在 图式间建立新的联系，从而最终改变人们对世界的主观印象，而作品的文学性就体现于话 语变异中。 库克的这一文学话语理论对文学翻译无疑可起到一定的指导作用。这是因为，其一， 文学理论与文学翻译有着内在的联系，文学理论直接体现为译者对于文学文本的理解，这 几乎是一种先决条件，它和翻译实践的关系表面上看来并不直接，实际上却要决定翻译实 践的成功。文学翻译本身就是一种文学研究，是一种阅读，是接受，是某种文学视角的再 现。每一种文学理论都给译者提供一种审视文学作品的视角，合适的视角能使读者更能领 略作品描绘的世界，更能了解作者的意图。其二，库克的话语变异理论是当今较为完善的 新的文学理论，该理论汲取了图式理论的长处和认知心理学的研究成果，以及形式主义、 结构主义、读者反映论的精华，在此基础上综合研究文学性的问题。其三，通过研究一些 汉译作品，不难发现其中一些译品存在着一些共同问题，首先是语言欧化表达不顺，再就 是译文淡而无味，一如清水，还有一些译作晦涩难懂，不知所云。这些都是译品缺乏文学 性的表现。这许是很多读者不愿读译作的缘故之一吧。因此，库克的话语变异理论对于 解决这些问题，提高译作的文学性有一定的指导意义。 该理论对于翻译的指导意义如下： 既然文学性通过话语变异体现，而话语变异又是通过文中的形式变异与读者的心理图 式互动作用实现，，那么，文学翻译中译者必须认真研究原文文本种的形式变异，揣测其文 学效果，并致力于在译文中运用相应的形式变异达到相似的文学效果。 为实现上述目标，笔者就文学翻译者的素养要求、文学翻译的标准、过程和形式变异 的翻译方法进行了详细的阐述。首先译者要丰富自身的心理图式结构，无论是语言图式结 构（译入语与源语知识）、文本图式结构（文本的互文状况）还是世界图式（如社会、文 化、历史等知识）。唯有译者自身的图式结构丰富，译者才能更好的与原作者交流，体会 原作中形式变异的意图。其次，译者应致力于识别原文文本中的形式变异（语言变异、文 本结构变异），并揣测这些形式变异在源语语境中的效果，然后致力于在译入语种寻求相 应的形式变异，以求相似的文学效果。在此，翻译的标准即“文学效果相似”。在翻译形 式变异时，译者可灵活使用四种方法：主要的两种方法是直译和替代法，补充方法是直译 与意译融合法、意译加有效补偿法。 卜自霎霎1 石石＋2／十二卜才 I毛写至霎目／jJ－人二L＜广 二二．乙poy w－”、，。。“N＼［＼ S T E R SI ｝I SI‘ 笔者然后通过研究名篇《西风颂》的两个中译本（译者分别为王佐良和江枫）中的形 式变异传译情况，发现成功地传译原文中的形式变异可以提高译文的文学性。研究同时也 表明，形式变异的有效传译也并不能一定能完全保证译文质量，也就是说不能解决文学翻 译的全部问题。 最后本论文的得出以卜结论：库克的文学话语理论应用于文学翻译虽不能解决文学翻 译的全部问题，但可以解决文学翻译中的一些问题，提高译作的文学性。在该理论的指导 －厂，能使译者抓住文学翻译的重点与难点，从而提高文学翻译的质量。
