英汉情态动词CAN和NENG的认知研究

【摘要】:在日常交流中,情态动词被看作情态表达的重要的、有效的手段之一,英汉情态动词CAN和NENG在口语和笔语中都得到了广泛地应用。对于这方面的研究已经经历了很长一段时间。就情态动词而言,它表示说话人对有关事物或行为的态度和观点,或者可以说是指为一个句子或话语增添的情态色彩,比如可能、许可、意愿等情态。事实上,很多学者已经从不同角度研究了英汉情态动CAN和NENG,比如从传统语法、句法、语义、语用等角度。但大多数都是共时的研究。 本文通过将历时研究和共时分析相结合。分别对情态动词CAN和NENG在不同历史时期的不同语义和同一历史时期出现的不同情态意义进行了分析,总结了情态动词的演变路径和规律,即综合能力→根情态→许可和综合能力→根情态→认知可能,然后从认知的角度结合概念隐喻、概念转喻和语法化理论分析了导致这一语义演变的动因和机制。 总之,本文对英汉情态动词CAN和NENG的使用和语义演变进行了较全面的分析和研究,意在为今后的语言共性研究和语言教学提供有价值的信息。 本文分为五章。第一章简单介绍了本文的目标、研究的问题和结构。第二章从不同的角度回顾了以前语言学家对英汉情态动词CAN和NENG的研究。第三章概述了本文的理论基础和理论框架,即概念隐喻、概念转喻和语法化。第四章分析了英汉情态动词CAN和NENG的语义演变过程,讨论了导致这些语义变化机制和动因。第五章总结全文。
[Abstract]:In daily communication, modal verbs are regarded as one of the important and effective means of modal expression. The modal verbs CAN and NENG are widely used in both spoken and written English and Chinese. Research in this area has been going on for a long time. As far as modal verbs are concerned, it means the attitude and viewpoint of the speaker on things or behaviors, or the modal color added to a sentence or utterance, such as possibility, permission, willingness, and so on. In fact, many scholars have studied modal CAN and NENGs from different angles, such as traditional grammar, syntax, semantics, pragmatics and so on. But most are synchronic studies. This paper combines diachronic research with synchronic analysis. This paper analyzes the different semantics of the modal verbs CAN and NENG in different historical periods and the different modal meanings in the same historical period, and summarizes the evolution path and law of the modal verbs. That is to say, the comprehensive ability and the comprehensive ability can be combined with the cognitive possibility, and then from the perspective of cognition, conceptual metaphor, conceptual metonymy and grammaticalization theory are used to analyze the causes and mechanisms that lead to this semantic evolution. In a word, this paper makes a comprehensive analysis and study on the use and semantic evolution of the modal verbs CAN and NENG in English and Chinese, in order to provide valuable information for the study of language commonality and language teaching in the future. This paper is divided into five chapters. The first chapter briefly introduces the goal, research problems and structure of this paper. Chapter two reviews the previous studies of modal verbs CAN and NENG in English and Chinese from different perspectives. The third chapter summarizes the theoretical basis and theoretical framework of this paper, namely conceptual metaphor, conceptual metonymy and grammaticalization. Chapter four analyzes the semantic evolution of the modal verbs CAN and NENG in English and Chinese, and discusses the mechanism and motivation of these semantic changes.
