系统功能语法视角下英汉索赔函的人际意义对比研究

【摘要】:随着贸易活动的蓬勃发展,信函成为贸易活动的主要交流媒介之一。商务信函在国内和国际贸易中发挥着重要的作用。然而贸易冲突在所难免,受损方有权向违约方提出索赔。当贸易冲突发生时,贸易双方都会利用索赔函进行交流和沟通。根据贸易合同的规定,为了维护自身的权益,受损方可向违约方提出索赔。受损方可依据违约方不同的违约行为提出索赔,其中违约行为主要包括未能按时交货,产品质量问题,产品数量与合同不符,包装不当等。而书写商务索赔函的目的也正是为了解决这些贸易冲突,从而维护双方正常的贸易关系。索赔函词语的表达方式能够在很大程度上表明作者的态度和观点,体现出了索赔函的人际意义。而英汉两种语言词语的表达方式不同,这也在一定程度上影响了英汉索赔函人际意义的实现。社会、文化因素可能是影响英汉索赔函人际意义实现方式不同的原因之一。本文试图探讨英汉索赔函在实现人际意义方式上的相同点和不同点。 本文的理论框架由韩礼德的人际功能理论,马丁的评价理论以及其他实现人际意义的理论组成。作者挑选了15篇英文索赔函和15篇中文索赔进行对比研究。对比研究主要从语气,情态,评价系统,人称和时态五个方面进行分析。为了保证研究的有效性,本研究采用了定量和定性相结合的方法,试图探索英汉索赔函在实现人际意义方式上的异同。通过仔细分析,作者发现中英文索赔函既存在相同点又存在不同点。 相同点可概括为如下几点:1)英汉索赔函中大部分语句使用的是陈述句,没有疑问句和感叹句。2)英汉索赔函多使用低、中值的情态动词。3)在英汉索赔函中,作者大量使用能够表明态度的词语,以此维护双方的贸易合作关系。4)英汉索赔函大多采用第一和第二人称。5)过去时和现在时是英汉索赔函的主要时态。 英汉索赔函的差异也很明显,主要包括:1)基于30篇索赔函语料库为研究对象,英语索赔函的祈使句使用得比汉语索赔函多。2)汉语索赔函多采用低值的情态动词,而英语索赔函则多采用中值的情态动词,另外高值的情态动词只出现在汉语索赔函中。3)与汉语索赔函相比,英语索赔函多使用强势性语言。4)英语索赔函多使用第一人称,汉语索赔函则更倾向于使用第二人称及第二人称礼貌体,以此体现对对方的礼貌和尊重。 本研究不仅希望能够丰富商务信函人际意义研究的成果,更希望人们在书写索赔函时能够使用恰当的词语表达方式。众所周知,社会、文化等因素会影响语言对于词语的选择,所以不同语言索赔函实现人际意义的方式也不尽相同。在书写索赔函时,要多留意索赔函背后的社会、文化因素。在今后的国际贸易中,为了能够书写出更加合理、得体的索赔函,很有必要提高自己的文化意识和文化修养,理解不同语言文化之间的差异。
[Abstract]:With the vigorous development of trade activities, correspondence has become one of the main communication media of trade activities. Business letters play an important role in domestic and international trade. However, trade conflicts are inevitable, and the injured party has the right to file a claim against the defaulting party. When a trade conflict occurs, both parties use claim letters to communicate and communicate. According to the provisions of the trade contract, in order to protect their rights and interests, the injured party may file a claim against the defaulting party. The damaged party may claim for damages according to the different breach of contract of the defaulting party. The breach of contract mainly includes the failure to deliver the goods on time, the quality problem of the product, the quantity of the product not in accordance with the contract, the improper packing and so on. The purpose of the business claim letter is to resolve these trade conflicts and to maintain normal trade relations between the two parties. The expression of claim letter words can to a great extent express the author's attitude and viewpoint, which reflects the interpersonal meaning of claim letter. However, the different expressions between English and Chinese also affect the realization of interpersonal meaning of claim letters in English and Chinese to some extent. Social and cultural factors may be one of the factors that influence the interpersonal meaning realization of English and Chinese claim letters. This paper attempts to explore the similarities and differences between English and Chinese claim letters in the realization of interpersonal meaning. The theoretical framework consists of Halliday's interpersonal function theory, Martin's evaluation theory and other theories to realize interpersonal meaning. The author selected 15 English claims and 15 Chinese claims for comparative study. The contrastive study is mainly from mood, modality, evaluation system, person and tense. In order to ensure the effectiveness of the study, the present study adopts a quantitative and qualitative approach to explore the similarities and differences in the realization of interpersonal meaning between English and Chinese claim letters. Through careful analysis, the author finds that there are similarities and differences between Chinese and English claim letters. The similarities can be summarized as follows: 1) the majority of English and Chinese claim letters use declarative sentences, no interrogative sentences and exclamatory sentences. 2) English and Chinese claim letters often use low, median modal verbs. 3) in English and Chinese claim letters, The author uses a lot of words which can express his attitude in order to maintain the relationship of trade and cooperation between the two sides. 4) most of the English and Chinese claim letters adopt the first and second person's terms. 5) the past tense and present tense are the main tenses of the English and Chinese claim letters. The differences between English and Chinese claim letters are also very obvious, including: 1) based on 30 claim letter corpus, English claim letter needs to be used more than Chinese claim letter. 2) Chinese claim letter uses low value modal verb. The English claim letter uses the median modal verb, and the high value modal verb only appears in the Chinese claim letter. 3) compared with the Chinese claim letter, the English claim letter uses the dominant language. 4) the English claim letter uses the first person. The Chinese claim letter is more inclined to use the second person and the second person to express the politeness and respect to the other party. This study not only hopes to enrich the research results of interpersonal meaning of business letters, but also hopes that people can use appropriate expressions when writing claim letters. As we all know, social, cultural and other factors affect the choice of words, so different languages have different ways of realizing interpersonal meaning. When writing a claim letter, pay more attention to the social and cultural factors behind the claim letter. In the future international trade, in order to write a more reasonable and appropriate claim letter, it is necessary to improve one's own cultural consciousness and culture, and to understand the differences between different languages and cultures.
