[Abstract]:Since the Han Dynasty, China has translated a large number of Indian classics. The Chinese translation of the Indian classics in ancient China is mainly Buddhist classics, including philosophy, astronomy, medical classics and so on. In this process, Chinese culture is enriched and translation experience is accumulated. After the Tang and Song dynasties, Chinese translation of Indian classics declined. Since the New Culture Movement, Chinese intellectuals have once again paid attention to Indian classics, especially Tagore's literary works. In the middle of the last century, China began to set up and train a team of professionals proficient in the Indian language. As a result, great achievements were made in the translation of Indian classics into Chinese. Ancient Indian religious philosophy classics, classical Sanskrit literature works and modern Hindi, Bengali, Urdu literary works and other fields of achievement. In recent years, the commercial translation practice has developed, but it faces many problems. At present, according to the actual situation of China and India and considering the importance and feasibility, China is the most worthy and most suitable for the Chinese translation of the ancient and medieval classics of India. In the process of translation, attention should be paid to drawing lessons from the existing translation traditions.
