批评语篇分析的对比研究 ——以富兰克林·德拉诺·罗斯福第一篇就职演说和贝拉克·奥巴马的就职演说为例

本文在批评语篇分析的视角下,对富兰克林·德拉诺·罗斯福第一篇就职演说和贝拉克·奥巴马的就职演说进行对比研究。由于两篇演讲发表的背景具有相似性,所以成为本文的对比研究对象。基于费尔克劳的三维模式,文章主要分三个层次展开,首先是对演讲文体特征的描述,其次对演讲论证方式的阐释,以及对语篇和社会背景之间关系的解释。在韩礼德的系统功能语法和批评语篇分析方法论的指导下,本文在及物性、情态系统、转换和分类等四个方面对两篇演讲的文体特征进行描述的过程中,发现两位总统都不同程度地选择了一些具体的语言技巧来达到各自的目的。例如:他们均采用名词化和被动化使演讲的语言更加客观公正,也采用第一人称代词的复数形式,把自己的意愿强加于听众。整个阐释过程主要以汤普森的论证分析理论为依据,详细分析了两篇演讲中具体的论证方式,阐明隐藏于语篇中的意识形态。在分析过程中作者发现,演讲中隐藏着一些不合逻辑的论证以及不易被听众发现的意识形态,这些不合逻辑的论证在某种程度上可以达到一定的说服效果。解释过程把语篇看做一种社会实践,主要解释了社会背景如何决定语篇的内容和特征,以及语篇内容和特征又是如何为社会秩序服务的。
