从语篇体裁的社会目的看戏剧翻译策略的选择 ——以《阴道独白》的两个中译本为例

  就戏剧翻译而言,以往相当长的时间内,人们一直把注意力放在戏剧的双重属性上,即“可读性”和“可演性”,同时也把戏剧属性作为翻译质量的评估标准,但戏剧翻译理论家似乎并没有追溯到戏剧的语篇体裁问题。根据Martin(2004/2006:505),语篇体裁是有目的的、分阶段的社会过程。因此,戏剧,作为一种语篇体裁,也是通过社会目的来定义的。评估翻译也应该从语篇体裁的社会目的出发。本研究通过分析《阴道独白》两个中译本,探讨了译者如何选择翻译策略,最终使原语文本和目的语文本达到语篇体裁社会目的的对等。戏剧的社会目的在于娱乐观众。因此,观众在社会目的实现上起着非常重要的作用,翻译策略的选择首先必须要考虑到观众的接受。这就在宏观上要求译者采取增删策略,对原语文本的语料做出选择;但不同的译者选取不同的语料,本文将会分析两位译者为了达到戏剧社会目的的对等是怎样对原语文本材料做出选择的。语篇体裁通过语域实现。语域是位于语篇体裁之下的一个层面,由三个变量组成:语义场(Field),语旨(Tenor)和语式(Mode)三个变量构成,每个变量与一种语言元功能相联系。语义场与概念功能紧密相连,通过词汇—语法层的及物...
