汉英“或然”类副词性关联词语比较研究

【摘要】：本文主要对汉英“或然”类副词性关联词语:“也许”,“或许”,“兴许”,“可能”和“大概”;probably,perhaps,possibly,likely和maybe进行对比研究。由于这一类副词广泛运用在表达不确定性或疑惑的口语及书面语篇中,所以,本文试图对该类副词的句法、语义、语用及篇章功能的共性、差异、以及规则进行一一探究。再者,基于美国当代英语语料库和北京大学中国语言学研究中心语料库收集的真实语料,本文对汉英“或然”类副词性关联词语进行了定量考察及定性分析。本文旨在探究汉英“或然”类副词性关联词语在其句法、语义、篇章以及语用特征的共性与差异,通过分析研究,本文主要发现并解释了以下几点:1.在句法方面:尽管汉英“或然”类副词性关联词语均优先置于句首和句中,但是,英语“或然”类副词性关联词语具有更加复杂和多样化的句法位置,其优选顺序为:“probablypossiblylikelyperhapsmaybe”(“”表示“先于”),相较于前者,汉语“或然”类副词性关联词语在句法位置复杂性和表达丰富性方面也略有逊色,其出现频率的优选顺序则是:“也许”“大概”/“或许”“可能”“兴许”;2.在语义方面,以这一类副词具有极其相似的语义为前提,汉语“或然”类副词性关联词语较之英语对等词,更具动态性、更依赖于情景语境,据其语义结构的多样性,可以得出该优选序列:“也许”“可能”“大概”/“或许”“兴许”。而英语对应词序列则为:probably/perhapslikelypossibly/maybe。此外,这类副词性关联词语还可连接具有转折、条件、因果类语义关系的前后小句;3.在语用方面,汉英“或然”类副词性关联词语主要有四种语用功能,即:信息标记功能,话语标记功能,强调和主观化功能。4.在篇章衔接功能方面,“或然”类副词性关联词语的衔接功能主要体现在指称、省略、替代、连接和词汇衔接上,这些功能在我们所分析意义完整连贯的语篇中所起的作用非常明显。
