[Abstract]:In network communication, the absence of nonverbal behavior makes it difficult for the sender of information to express a certain emotion, personality, or charm. With the help of emoji, people's online communication will be smoother. Since the 21st century, with the normalization of online communication, the use of emoji can not be ignored more and more. In this paper, the QQ emoji which appears in the group discussion is taken as the research object. A quantitative and qualitative analysis of the content of QQ emoji in the five-month chat records of 209 Chinese college students and 117 foreign students from the Russian-speaking area was carried out. The purpose of this paper is to find out the characteristics of the use of QQ emoticons in group discussions among college students from different cultural backgrounds, and the functions and functions of QQ emoticons in group discussions, and to make a comparative analysis of the two. In addition, this paper also analyzes the special linguistic phenomenon in the group discussion, namely, the multi-modal metaphor composed of QQ emoji and text. The comparative study shows that there are many similarities and differences in the use features, functions and functions of QQ emoji in the different language environments between China and Russia. Two groups of subjects generally used emoji in their group discussions in their network language environment and were recognized by their members. The emoji which appeared at high frequency in the two groups had similar characteristics. However, there is still a great difference in the use characteristics between the two groups. The participation of Chinese students in group discussions and the number and frequency of emoji in group discussions are significantly higher than those of international students. There are also obvious differences in the selection of emoji in different emotions and in the selection and use of system and custom emoji. In addition, college students with different linguistic backgrounds in group discussions can flexibly use emoji to supplement context, coordinate interpersonal relations and ease the function of discourse. But Chinese students also have the function of using emoji in group discussion. Finally, multi-modal metaphors composed of text and emoji are presented in the group discussion. The multimodal metaphors in the corpus contain not only the static "A is B" metaphors, but also the dynamic "A-ing is B-ing" multimodal metaphors.
