[Abstract]:Most of the existing referential studies only focus on single-modal referential expressions. However, in daily communication activities, the implementation of referential behavior needs the cooperation of many modes, including referential language. The purpose of this study is to explore how referential language and gesture cooperate with each other to complete character referential behavior in daily Chinese conversation. Based on the video corpus of six interviews with characters in Luyu, the types of characters in the referential behavior of characters are divided into live characters (speaker, addressee, participant and mixed characters on the spot), off-site characters (specific characters, Non-specific characters and virtual characters) and mixed characters, the referential words are divided into single referential words (noun / noun phrases and pronouns) and repetitive referential words, and gestures are divided into indicative gestures (large and small directions). Iconicity gestures (model mode, action mode and description mode) and mixed gestures. In this framework, ELAN software is used to mark and analyze, and the following conclusions are drawn: the speaker uses different types of referential words and gestures to complete the referential behavior of the characters at the same time. There are four forms of interaction between the two models: one-to-one, one-to-many, many-to-one and many-to-many. According to the different functions of gestures, there are two functional interactions between the two modes: referential words are subordinate to gestures or both are in the same position. Specifically, when referring to the characters on the spot, the speaker will use the large direction and small direction in the indicative gesture, as well as the action mode and description mode in the likeness gesture to refer to the mixed character between himself and the scene. The large and small directions in indicative gestures and the description patterns in similar gestures are used to refer to the addressee. The large and small directions in indicative gestures, the depiction patterns in likeness gestures and mixed gestures are used to refer to the participants in the session. There are four forms of interaction and two functional interactions between the two modes. When gestures are used to highlight, introduce, compare and provide images of characters on the spot, they are on an equal footing with referential words; when gestures are used to identify and correct characters on the spot, referential words are subordinate to gestures. When referring to off-site characters, the speaker will use the large direction and small direction in the indicative gesture, the model mode, the action mode and the description mode in the likeness gesture, as well as the mixed gesture to refer to the specific character. The large and small directions in indicative gestures, as well as the model patterns and action patterns in iconicity gestures, are used to refer to non-specific characters, and the large directions in indicative gestures and the description patterns in similar gestures are used to refer to fictional characters. There are four forms of interaction between the two modes, but there are only two forms of interaction when referring to fictional characters. In functional interaction, when gestures are used to highlight, compare, enumerate and provide off-site characters, they are in an equal position with referential words. When referring to mixed characters, the speaker will use the large and small directions in indicative gestures, as well as the model patterns and depiction patterns in likeness gestures to refer to characters.
