【摘要】：《过界仪式》于1980年为威廉·戈尔丁摘得了布克奖的桂冠。小说中,作家通过主人公塔尔伯特对暴力的反思而产生的认知变化书写了其成长。本文依据阿伦特对暴力的相关论述,通过对小说主人公塔尔伯特经历的暴力及其对暴力的反思来分析他的成长历程,以揭示作家通过主人公成长对暴力作为人性恶的表现所产生的根源进行的探究。主人公的成长经历了一个对暴力反思的过程。他的反思始于认识到自己在由暴力引发的科利的悲剧中扮演了重要角色。此外,主人公还认识到自己也参与了导致科利死亡的集体暴力事件,反思了船上乘客包括自己的种种作恶行为,加深了对人性恶的认识。他对科利悲剧命运的态度也由漠不关心转变为反思过错。本文认为塔尔伯特的成长表现在其认知上的变化及其采取补救过错的行动上。本文说明了戈尔丁通过主人公成长经历,揭示了由于普通民众丧失道德判断能力导致的集体暴力。表明了人们一旦放弃了独立思考,陷入盲从,表现出平庸的恶,必然会造成暴力的产生。

His attitude to the tragic fate of Cole also changed from indifference to reflection on his fault. This article holds that Bert's growth is manifested in his cognitive changes and the action of remedial fault. This article shows that Goldin, through the growth experience of the protagonist, reveals the collective violence caused by the loss of the moral judgment of the ordinary people. It shows that once people give up their independent thinking, fall into the blind and show a mediocre evil, they will inevitably lead to violence.
