[Abstract]:According to critics, Kingston supported the American anti-war peace movement in the second half of the 20 th century through the book of the Fifth Anchorage. This paper holds that this work is not a political manifesto that conveys the idea of anti-war peace, but through the experience of Kingston and the Vietnam War veterans, the Buddhist philosophy of "mindfulness" proclaimed by the Buddhist master Shih Heng, originated from the East. The aim is to provide psychological comfort to Americans seeking peace and anti-war: inner happiness is not hard to pursue, but can be achieved through mindfulness, that is, to maintain a conscious, indistinguishable awareness of the present.Mindfulness also heals psychological pain for people devastated by the 1991 Oakland fire and PTSD, helping them find comfort in every step of their lives.
