巴恩斯小说《终结的感觉》中的荒诞和反抗

【摘要】：朱利安·巴恩斯是当代英国著名小说家,在国际上亦是赫赫有名。2011年小说《终结的感觉》出版,并于同年获得了曼布克文学奖。小说的叙述者是托尼·韦伯斯特。小说分为两个部分,第一部分主要回忆了托尼年轻时的校园生活,围绕他与阿德里安的友谊以及他与维诺尼卡的恋情展开;第二部分记叙了他当下的生活以及他对第一部分回忆的重构和颠覆的过程。小说篇幅不长,却被认为是巴恩斯写作技巧最纯熟的作品之一。国内外学者对这部小说的研究并不鲜见,但大多是针对小说主题、叙事策略和个人身份认同的研究,只有极少数的研究关注到小说中的荒诞现象与伦理道德问题。因此,在文本细读的基础上,本论文尝试以加缪的视角,从荒诞和反抗两个方面解读这部小说,为这部小说的研究打开一个新的视角。本论文由四章组成。第一章为绪论,首先介绍了巴恩斯的生平及其小说《终结的感觉》,其次梳理了国内外的研究现状,并就本论文的理论基础,即荒诞、反抗与道德关怀进行阐述。第二章首先对荒诞进行了界定,然后以“异化”作为切入点分析了小说中主要人物托尼和阿德里安各方面异化的表现,并从“时间”的角度揭示小说中荒诞的体现。第三章则首先介绍了加缪对荒诞的反抗方式,选取了小说两个主要人物阿德里安和托尼作为分析对象,并得出结论,即这两个主要人物其实是作者笔下现代版的西西弗斯,他们面对荒诞不放弃反抗,勇于在荒诞中寻找生命的意义。本章还进一步指出了托尼重构记忆背后的动因实则是其道德选择使然,托尼的反抗中所涉及的道德问题也是作者道德关怀的体现。最后一章为总结,论文作者认为,巴恩斯通过小说向读者展示了一个荒诞的世界。和加缪一样,巴恩斯也认为荒诞是不能逃避的。面对荒诞要积极反抗,正如小说中的阿德里安和托尼一样,通过反抗在荒诞的世界中积极寻找生命的意义。同时,小说中对道德问题的探讨是巴恩斯探索人们反抗荒诞深层动因的一个尝试。巴恩斯是一个人文主义者,他对荒诞、反抗的描述以及对道德的反思,深刻体现着他对当今个人存在问题的忧思。
[Abstract]:Julian Barnes is a famous contemporary British novelist who was internationally famous. The 2011 novel "feeling of end" was published and won the Manbuk Prize for Literature in the same year. The narrator of the novel is Tony Webster. The first part mainly recalls Tony's campus life when he was young and revolves around his friendship with Adrian and his love affair with Veronica. The second part describes his current life and his reconstruction and subversion of the first part. The novel is not long, but is considered one of Barnes' most skillful writing skills. Scholars at home and abroad are not uncommon in the study of this novel, but most of them focus on the theme of the novel, narrative strategy and personal identity. Only a few studies focus on the absurd phenomenon and ethical issues in the novel. Therefore, on the basis of careful reading of the text, this thesis attempts to interpret the novel from two aspects of absurdity and resistance from the perspective of Camus, which opens a new perspective for the study of the novel. This paper consists of four chapters. The first chapter is the introduction, first introduces Barnes' life and his novel "feeling of end", then combs the domestic and foreign research status, and expounds the theoretical basis of this paper, namely absurdity, resistance and moral concern. In the second chapter, the author defines absurdity and analyzes the dissimilation of the main characters Tony and Adrian from the point of view of alienation, and reveals the embodiment of absurdity in the novel from the angle of time. The third chapter first introduces Camus' resistance to absurdity, chooses Adrian and Tony as the analysis object, and draws a conclusion that these two main characters are actually the modern version of Sisyphus. In the face of absurdity, they do not give up resistance and dare to seek the meaning of life in absurdity. This chapter further points out that the motivation behind Tony's reconstruction of memory is actually the result of his moral choice, and the moral issues involved in Tony's resistance are also the embodiment of the author's moral care. In the last chapter, the author thinks that Barnes shows the readers an absurd world through the novel. Like Camus, Barnes believed that absurdity was inescapable. In the face of absurdity, just like Adrian and Tony in the novel, we should actively seek the meaning of life in the absurd world. At the same time, the discussion of moral problem in the novel is Barnes' attempt to explore the deep motive of people's resistance to absurdity. Barnes is a humanist, whose description of absurdity, revolt and moral reflection deeply reflects his concern about the problems existing in the individual today.
