《米格尔大街》中人物的狂欢化解读
[Abstract]:Miguel Street opened Naipaul's half-century writing career and played an important role in his life. This is a collection of 17 short stories, which focus on the poverty and misery of the colonists. All kinds of characters on Miguel Street are constantly crowned and discrowned, even mechanically imitating the poets, judges and language of colonial countries, which are in accord with the carnival rituals in Bakhtin's carnival poetics. Not only that, people's everyday language, like Janus with two faces, expresses a double meaning, and all the absurd acts they do are for the inaccessible utopia and for some degree of subversion of colonial culture. Thus, people on Miguel Street are immersed in their own carnival life and unofficial world, the whole street permeated with carnival atmosphere. Most scholars at home and abroad devote themselves to the narrative techniques, marginal studies and post-colonial analysis of Miguel Street. However, few scholars interpret it from the perspective of carnival. This paper attempts to analyze all kinds of carnival life of those silly or crazy characters on Miguel Street from the perspective of carnival, to explore their carnival world feelings and the bitterness behind carnival life. This paper is divided into five parts. The first part is mainly about the brief introduction of Wei Su Naipaul and his work Miguel Street and the present research situation at home and abroad, combing the theoretical framework, expounding the motivation and significance of the research and the layout structure of the article. The first chapter of the main part analyzes the carnival ceremony of crazy characters, mainly including the coronation and de-coronation of Manman and Bigfoot and the imitation of Morgan and B. Wordsworth. These crazy characters, under the long colonial rule, live a carnival life with their own rituals, and finally can not escape the dream of an empty ending. The second chapter explains the characters' words in the carnival life, mainly including local folk music-Kripuso minor, indirect discourse irony and some vulgar language. The revelry demands of people on Miguel Street are reflected in their words all the time, thus indirectly expressing their feelings of discontent. The third chapter interprets the carnival world feeling from utopia life, subversion and duality of carnival square. The last part is the conclusion, which mainly summarizes the carnival ceremony, carnival language and carnival world feeling of different characters on Miguel Street, puts forward the philosophical significance of carnival life, and again examines the doomed outcome of people under colonial rule. All the characters on Miguel Street were living a carnival life to make themselves forget the grief and helplessness of that hopeless life, but when they returned to real life, But realize that still can't get rid of the predicament of colonization.
