[Abstract]:Tony Morrison is a famous African-American writer and the only African-American female writer to win the Nobel Prize for Literature. Since the publication of the novel, there has been an endless stream of commentaries and praises for it. These articles study the novel from different angles, including the return of home, deconstruction and construction of home, feminism, identity crisis, and so on. These studies are of great significance to the further understanding of the novel. This collection analyzes the violence described in Home. The novel is set in the 1950 s. This seemingly calm age is rife with violence. The novel tells the tragic story of black soldier Frank and his sister, Cy. Their experiences are full of these violent elements: ethnic violence, gender violence, war violence and domestic violence. Morrison's novels make us see that violence is always accompanied by history, which affects people's daily life and is closely related to human beings. This thesis discusses the following aspects: the violence in the text, the representation of violence, and the meaning of the representation of violence. The second chapter discusses the phenomena of violence: violence and war, violence and race, violence and family, violence and women. Chapter three introduces four forms of violence: illusion and dream, sensual passivation, discontinuous narration, film and television narrative. These methods of representation are borrowed from the aesthetics of violence, which, unlike the traditional methods of representation, endow the novel with its unique aesthetic value and the reader's unique reading experience. The fourth chapter introduces several meanings of representing violence: text meaning, social meaning and aesthetic meaning. Through the research of this thesis, on the one hand, we can have a deeper understanding of Morrison's novel, on the other hand, we can clearly understand the social reality at that time. Finally, our understanding of violence, aesthetics and violence aesthetics will also be improved.
