“跨界书写”—《女勇士》中的中国人形象分析

汤亭亭是当今美国文坛享有盛誉的华裔女作家,著有《女勇士》,《中国佬》,《孙行者》,《第五和平书》,《战争的老兵,和平的老兵》。1976年,汤亭亭发表了回忆录式的自传小说《女勇士》,书中使用拼贴的手法记叙了自己在美国的生活经验以及母亲给她口述的中国故事。《女勇士》的出版让汤亭亭名声大噪,同年汤凭借该书获得了全美书评界非小说奖。《女勇士》在华裔美国文学史上有极高的地位,任何华裔美国文学研究都绕不开汤亭亭和《女勇士》。自该书发表以来,学界一直没有停止过对该书的探讨。本文从比较文学形象学的角度分析文本中塑造出的中国人形象,主体部分对汤亭亭的“跨界”书写策略进行深入剖析,并通过文本细读总结出文本中中国形象的三个侧面。本文主要运用了女性主义理论以及霍米巴巴有关多元文化主义叙事策略的理论来分析书中的中国人形象。第一章结合女性主义理论分析文本中的女性形象,并提出汤的跨性别书写策略;第二章集中探讨了“鬼魂”的形象,并从中美文化中寻找鬼的原型;第三章分析了华人社区形象,从而归纳出汤的跨种族书写策略。并对这三类形象进行分析,从而反思华裔女性作家的汤亭亭在美国白人社会的生活状况和生存策略。
