《魔戒—第一部:魔戒再现》中隐喻的认知研究

【摘要】:《魔戒》英国中古史学者,语言学是家及小说家托尔金的著作,是二十世纪西方畅销小说之一,目前在全球已被翻译成40多种语言,二十一世纪初其同名电影的辉煌成绩使托尔金的史诗奇幻小说再次引起了人们的关注,小说运用复杂多变的结构,采用并创造了魔幻意向的情节,内容包括丰富详尽的地理,历史,宗教,语言,国家等背景知识,多次运用隐喻的描写技巧,具有很深的文化层次。而以往对《魔戒》研究仅限于:符号学分析,译者主体性,小说的文化解读,文学价值,文学人物以及文学性的领域,同名电影消费观,跨文化交际的角度的研究,更多的学者对于《魔戒》的研究都限于文化,翻译方面等等,很少涉及其中的隐喻认知,因此,本论文将从认知隐喻角度对《魔戒》第一部中的的隐喻进行研究。 本文通过对隐喻发展历史的追溯,介绍了概念隐喻理论和概念合成理论两大现代隐喻观;和概念隐喻理论和概念合成理论的映射方向,对《魔戒》第一部《魔戒再现》进行分析,得出以下结论: 第一,小说中的语料全面证实了莱考夫的观点:隐喻无处不在,不仅存在于我们的日常生活中,而且存在于小说文本的创作中。 第二,概念隐喻理论和概念合成理论在引导人们的隐喻认知,文本创作,文本理解的过程中具有重要作用。本文将小说文本置于隐喻认知理论之下进行研究,将文本置于隐喻机制下进行再认知和重组,从而形成新的意义,引导读者更加深入的理解文本。 第三,通过对小说文本的分析得出,小说中的隐喻类型是多样化的,可以促进新思想,新知识的产生,并且使读者能够更好的引导人们理解隐喻在小说文本的认知过程中的重要作用。 第四,通过对小说文本中隐喻工作机制的探讨分析,使读者从认知视角下能够更好的理解英语语境下隐喻的内涵和语言特点。 本论文将以《魔戒再现》中出现的隐喻为语料,通过对隐喻工作机制的探讨来分析文本中隐喻相似性的创造,概念隐喻理论和概念合成理论下隐喻的认知,使读者能在不同的文化语境下理解隐喻。
[Abstract]:The Lord of the Rings, a British scholar of ancient history and a writer and novelist Tolkien, is one of the best-selling Western novels of the 20th century, and has now been translated into more than 40 languages around the world. The brilliant achievement of his film of the same name in the early 21 century made Tolkien's epic fantasy novel attract people's attention again. The novel used complex and changeable structure, adopted and created the plot of magic intention, which included rich and detailed geography. History, religion, language, state and other background knowledge, many times the use of metaphorical techniques, has a deep cultural level. However, previous studies on the Lord of the Rings are limited to: semiotics analysis, translator's subjectivity, cultural interpretation of novels, literary value, literary characters and literariness, consumption view of films of the same name and cross-cultural communication. More researches on the Lord of the Rings are limited to culture, translation and so on, and seldom involve the metaphorical cognition. Therefore, this thesis will study the metaphors in the first part of the Lord of the Rings from the perspective of cognitive metaphor. By tracing back to the history of metaphor development, this paper introduces two modern metaphorical views: conceptual metaphor theory and conceptual synthesis theory, and the mapping direction of conceptual metaphor theory and conceptual synthesis theory. By analyzing the first part of the Lord of the Rings, the following conclusions are drawn: First, the corpus in the novel fully confirms Lakoff's view that metaphor is ubiquitous, not only in our daily life, but also in the creation of novel texts. Secondly, conceptual metaphor theory and conceptual synthesis theory play an important role in guiding people's metaphorical cognition, text creation and text understanding. This paper studies the novel text under the metaphorical cognitive theory, and reconsiders and recombines the text under the metaphorical mechanism, thus forming a new meaning and guiding the reader to understand the text more deeply. Thirdly, through the analysis of the text of the novel, it is concluded that the types of metaphors in the novel are diversified and can promote the generation of new ideas and new knowledge. And the readers can better guide people to understand the important role of metaphor in the cognitive process of the novel text. Fourthly, through the analysis of the working mechanism of metaphor in the novel text, readers can better understand the connotation and linguistic characteristics of metaphor in English context from the perspective of cognition. This thesis will analyze the creation of metaphor similarity in the text, the cognition of metaphor under conceptual metaphor theory and conceptual synthesis theory, based on the metaphor appearing in the Ring of the Lord of the Rings as the corpus, and through the discussion of the working mechanism of metaphor. It enables readers to understand metaphors in different cultural contexts.
