帝国的男孩与女孩:帝国主义和“黄金时代”儿童小说中的性别模范

【摘要】:罗杰·兰斯林·格林(Roger Lancelyn Green)在1962年发表的《儿童书籍的黄金时代》(The Golden Age of Children’s Books)中正式将维多利亚中期(即1850年前后)到爱德华早期(约1910年)前这一段时期界定为儿童文学,尤其是儿童小说发展史上的“黄金时代”。本文将这一时期的儿童小说作为研究对象,深入发掘帝国主义、儿童小说和性别模范三者之间的关系。首先将儿童小说和其它文体剥离开来,,从英国维多利亚时期儿童小说创作、出版兴盛的历史、社会成因及产生的经济文化效应入手;重点研究英国维多利亚及爱德华时期帝国主义在“黄金时代”英国儿童小说中的性别体现;研究针对不同性别读者创作的儿童小说对孩童心理性别的影响,从多学科角度探讨不同类型儿童小说中“性别模范”的塑造,以及这些性别模范形象和帝国主义直接的相互作用。 本文的第一章主要试图厘清帝国主义和“黄金时代”儿童小说之间的关系,在界定“黄金时代”这一概念之后,由外而内解析“黄金时代”儿童小说繁荣兴盛的历史成因,同时把帝国放到儿童小说的语境中考量,进一步思考帝国主义对“黄金时代”儿童小说中性别模范和性别理想的影响,及其对儿童小说中的男性角色和女性角色的发展分别起到了什么样的作用。第二章和第三章,笔者分别从男性和女性的角度,阐释帝国主义的发展推动儿童小说中的男性理想和女性理想向前进化。通过对比黄金时代之前的小说,了解性别理想发生变化的过程,通过深入分析经典小说作品中的男性和女性群像,并解读这种变化和帝国崛起之间的关系。最后得出如下结论:儿童小说中的男子精神和女性理想被帝国推动向前进步,而这些新生的性别模范也反作用力于帝国,为帝国的发展提供人才保障。
[Abstract]:Roger Lancelyn Greenin published the Golden Age of ChildrensBooks in 1962, officially bringing the period from mid-Victorian (around 1850) to the early Edwards (about 1910). Defined as children's literature, Especially the golden age in the history of children's novels. This paper takes the children's novels of this period as the object of study, and explores the relationship among imperialism, children's novels and gender models. Firstly, children's novels are separated from other forms of writing, starting with the history, social causes and economic and cultural effects of Victorian children's novels. Focusing on the British Victorian and Edwardian imperialism in the "Golden Age" in the British children's novels, the study of children's novels for different gender readers on the psychological gender of children, From a multidisciplinary perspective, this paper discusses the shaping of "gender models" in different types of children's novels. The first chapter tries to clarify the relationship between imperialism and "golden age" children's novels, after defining the concept of "golden age". From outside to inside, we analyze the historical causes of the prosperity and prosperity of the "Golden Age" children's novels, and at the same time, consider the empire in the context of children's novels. Further thinking about the influence of imperialism on the gender model and gender ideal in the children's novels of the Golden Age, and what role they play in the development of the male and female roles in the children's novels. In chapter two and chapter three, from the angle of male and female, the author explains that the development of imperialism promotes the evolution of male ideal and female ideal in children's novels. By comparing the novels before the golden age, we can understand the process of the change of the gender ideal, analyze the male and female groups in the classical novels, and interpret the relationship between this change and the rise of the empire. Finally, the following conclusions are drawn: the male spirit and female ideal in children's novels are pushed forward by the empire, and these new gender models also react to the empire, providing talent guarantee for the development of the empire.
