【摘要】:弗·菲茨杰拉德(Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald)是20世纪美国最重要的小说家之一。他被称为美国“爵士乐时代”的“桂冠诗人”和美国文学“迷惘的一代”的杰出代表作家。他的一生虽然短暂,却在二十多年的创作生涯中发表了五部优秀的长篇小说和一百六十多篇才华横溢的短篇小说,给后人留下了宝贵的文学财富。相比较而言,长篇小说《了不起的盖茨比》(The Great Gatsby,1925)和《夜色温柔》(Tender Is the Night,1934)真正地奠定了菲茨杰拉德在美国文学界甚至世界文坛的地位,所以本篇文章也主要以这两部长篇小说为研究对象,,来阐释菲茨杰拉德本人对消费文化的态度。 菲茨杰拉德作为“爵士乐时代”的弄潮儿,纵情地享受消费文化带来的刺激与疯狂,他是这个时代的化身,同时也是此时代的牺牲品。他的人生历程诠释了他的作品,他的作品又为他谜一般的人生做出了最恰当的注解。菲茨杰拉德在他的作品中栩栩如生地描绘了20世纪初美国消费文化影响下的社会风貌及人的意识形态,作品中的主人公身上都有现代消费文化的烙印,他们以牺牲自己的人生坐标去换取上流社会的种种符码。然而,这种不等价的交换注定是以悲剧收场,在消费文化大行其道的今天,重新审视菲茨杰拉德的作品,对我们仍有警醒意义。同时,通过菲茨杰拉德本人在其作品中对主人公悲剧形象的刻画、人际间冷漠关系的描写以及铺张浪费场景的描绘可以看出,在菲茨杰拉德的内心最深处,他对消费文化实质上是持否定的态度。 本论文首先在引言部分简要地介绍了国内外学者对菲茨杰拉德的研究状况,并指出本论文的研究意义。然后在第一章主要论述了消费文化的产生及其主要特征。在第二章着重阐述一战后美国社会的消费文化特征,以及消费文化对作家菲茨杰拉德本人生活及其创作的影响。在第三章主要通过解读菲茨杰拉德的长篇小说,尤其是《了不起的盖茨比》和《夜色温柔》,探讨消费文化在其文本中的具体体现以及作品中人物在消费文化主宰下的悲剧命运。第四章则就菲茨杰拉德对现代美国消费文化的态度进行评述。最后得出菲茨杰拉德对消费文化实质上是持否定态度这一结论。
[Abstract]:Fitzgerald (Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald) is one of the most important American novelists in the 20th century. He is known as the laureate poet of the Jazz Age and the outstanding representative writer of the lost generation of American literature. Although his life is short, he has published five excellent novels and more than 160 talented short stories in his creation career of more than 20 years, leaving a valuable literary wealth for future generations. By contrast, the novels "the Great Gatsby" (The Great Gatsby,1925) and "the Tender of the Night" (Tender Is the Night,1934) truly established Fitzgerald's position in the American literary world and even in the world. So this article also takes these two novels as the object of study to explain Fitzgerald's attitude towards consumption culture. As a wave rider of the Jazz Age, Fitzgerald indulged in the excitement and madness of consumer culture. He was the embodiment and victim of this era. His life has interpreted his works, and his works have made the most appropriate explanation for his enigmatic life. In his works, Fitzgerald vividly depicts the social style and human ideology under the influence of American consumer culture in the early 20th century, and the protagonists in his works are imprinted with modern consumption culture. They sacrificed their own life coordinates in exchange for the symbols of the upper class. However, this unequal exchange is destined to end in tragedy, in the popular consumer culture today, the re-examination of Fitzgerald's works, we are still alert to the significance. At the same time, through the portrayal of the tragic image of the protagonist in Fitzgerald's works, the description of interpersonal indifference and the depiction of extravagant and wasteful scenes, it can be seen that the deepest part of Fitzgerald's heart is, In essence, he holds a negative attitude towards consumer culture. In the introduction part, this paper briefly introduces the research status of Fitzgerald, and points out the significance of this paper. Then the first chapter mainly discusses the emergence of consumer culture and its main characteristics. The second chapter focuses on the characteristics of consumption culture in American society after World War I, and the influence of consumption culture on Fitzgerald's life and his creation. In the third chapter, through the interpretation of Fitzgerald's novels, especially the Great Gatsby and the tenderness of the Night, This paper discusses the concrete embodiment of consumer culture in its text and the tragic fate of the characters in the works under the domination of consumer culture. The fourth chapter comments on Fitzgerald's attitude towards modern American consumer culture. Finally, it is concluded that Fitzgerald has a negative attitude towards consumer culture in essence.
