清教下的欲望 ——奥尼尔的两部反清教戏剧《榆树下的欲望》和《悲悼三部曲》

　　作为一种文化遗产,清教主义对美国人的早期思想产生了深远影响。但随着19世纪中晚期清教主义的衰落与现代意识的发展,许多现代作家把反清教思想融入其创作之中。尤金·奥尼尔是20世纪美国最杰出的剧作家,他在20世纪20年代集中创作出一系列的反清教戏剧。本文将重点深入奥尼尔的两部典型反清教戏剧《榆树下的欲望》和《悲悼三部曲》,探讨清教下被压抑的性欲和无节制的物欲,表达奥尼尔对现代社会中逐渐衰落的清教信条的否定。他吸收弗洛伊德的性欲理论和尼采的酒神精神学说来塑造叛逆的女性形象,旨在批判清教的“自我否定”。尽管女性的反叛取得了一定的成功,但仍需与清教父权制作持续的抗争。包括介绍和总结,本篇论文共分为六个部分。介绍部分对奥尼尔基于新英格兰所创作的反清教剧及其评论进行简单的回顾,重点介绍了《榆树下的欲望》和《悲悼三部曲》两部剧,并提出本文论点。第一章首先介绍了清教主义,清教信条以及与清教和奥尼尔戏剧联系紧密的新英格兰地区,其次介绍了清教主义对奥尼尔思想的影响。第二章分析了20世纪20年代美国现代意识与清教主义的矛盾冲突,探讨了清教影响下的性欲和“金钱”上帝。第三章对清教徒形象和叛逆的女性形象进行了文本分...
