十九世纪英国女性小说中女性意识的演变

在男性主导的文学领域中，女性的形象一直被扭曲为两种形象--迎合男性欲望的纯洁的，天真的,温顺的“天使”形象和男性厌恶或惧怕的具有毁灭性的，恶毒的，贪婪的“魔鬼”形象。“天使”和“魔鬼”都是男性的兴趣﹑情感需要和恐惧的反映。而且，由于女性的社会边缘地位，相比男性她们接受的教育要少的多，因此在文学领域中，女性长期处于失语状态。对于男性来说，女性的文化定位一度是“另类”。文学领域对女性形象的不真实描写反映了男权社会对女性的压迫。在英国，真正的女性文学起源于19世纪。19世纪的英国被认为是女性文学的黄金时期。越来越多的女性作家出现在历史舞台上,打破了长期以来女性在文学领域的沉默状态。她们利用手中的笔倾诉着男权社会对女性的不公平压制。简·奥斯丁，勃朗特姐妹，乔治·艾略特是这个时期最具有代表性的女作家。在她们的笔下，众多的女性一改既定模式中的多愁善感，温顺柔弱的形象，表现出了她们坚强，独立和自信的一面。她们作品中表现出来的叛逆精神和对自由与独立的追求被认为是女性主义意识的萌芽。简·奥斯丁对当时社会习俗的讽刺，对女性智慧和身份的肯定，勃朗特姐妹对当时女性生存状态的真实揭露，对女性独立的鼓励，乔治·艾...
