用合作原则和礼貌理论分析《爱玛》中的会话含义

《爱玛》被认为是简·奥斯丁最成功的作品。对此作品的研究不胜枚举,本文试从语用学的角度详细分析《爱玛》里丰富的会话含义。作为世界公认的经典作家,简·奥斯丁和她的小说受到了广泛关注。本文回顾了19世纪和现当代关于简·奥斯丁和《爱玛》的文学研究和批评,发掘出运用语用学理论分析《爱玛》里的会话含义的可行性和必要性。本文使用的语用理论是格莱斯的合作原则和会话准则,布朗和列文森的间接礼貌策略和里奇的礼貌原则和准则。本文对这三个理论进行了阐述,并解释了它们之间的关系,为分析会话含义和间接表达提供了清晰的理论框架和研究工具。关于会话含义的可理解性也有所涉及。本文从小说《爱玛》里精选了大量典型的使用间接表达的对话,运用上述语用学理论对其会话含义进行详细分析。根据间接礼貌策略在语言形式上的实现方式,对这些对话进行了归类分析。小说中的人物在遵守合作原则的基础上故意违反准则及其次准则,目的是传达一种潜在的真正意图,即会话含义。这样做的原因之一就是他们顾及到言语交际中的礼貌原则。为了减少对交谈者的面子威胁,说话者往往使用看似礼貌的方式,隐讳的表达自己的真实想法和情感,从而避免直接冲突,尴尬或种种不良后果。一般情...
