论凯特·肖邦小说《觉醒》的经典化

美国小说家凯特·肖邦的小说《觉醒》讲述的是女主人公艾德娜不满足于传统的贤妻良母角色,走出家庭追寻自我的故事。小说曾经一度被许多批评家贴上“精神毒草”的标签,但后来伴随着社会伦理环境的进步以及形式主义批评和女性主义批评的崛起,小说又被推崇并奉为经典。纵观《觉醒》接受史,可以清晰地发现,这部小说先后经历了被否定、被肯定、被推崇三个阶段。小说出版之初,遭到了以伦理道德为主要评判标准的主流批评界的严厉批评,并在之后被埋没达近半个世纪。到了20世纪中期,以新批评为代表的形式主义批评占据了主流,主要关注文本的艺术特色和形式美,因而针对这部小说艺术特色的研读开始盛行。从二十世纪七十年代开始,女性主义批评开始崛起并盛极一时,小说被挖掘出来并被奉为经典,并在女性主义理论框架下得到了更深更广阔的解读。从文化批评角度来看,人们对文学作品的理解是受到了来自相互竞争、相互影响着的各种文化暗流的影响,对文学文本的理解不能脱离文本所依存的话语体系。特定时期的文化构成是错综复杂的,人们的文化体验受到来自性别、种族、民族、性取向、社会经济层次、职业等诸多因素的影响。文化又是动态不稳定的,在不断地成长和变化。具体到每个特...
