评价视角下的《警察与赞美诗》中索比的悲剧研究

人们对文学作品的分析由来已久,历来对文学作品的研究主要是从文学批评及文体学的角度出发。从语言学的角度看,文学作品也属于话语的一种。本文尝试从语言学的角度出发,运用Martin的评价理论对欧·亨利的短篇小说《警察与赞美诗》进行话语分析,该如何利用评价资源来分析短篇小说这种语篇?其中的各种评价资源有多少?怎样评价?如何应用评价理论来研究小说中主人公Soapy的悲剧命运?这些问题都将在本文得到回答。从Halliday的系统功能语言学理论基础上发展起来的评价理论被广泛用于各种语篇的分析,尤其是媒体语篇,是对功能语言语言学人际意义的扩展。该理论被证明不仅系统性强,而且可行且实用性强。通过评价理论对该小说的语篇分析是完全可行的。通过对小说的评价资源分析,发现评价的各种手段在该语篇中都存在。在三个子系统中,态度资源所占比例最多,其次是级差,介入所占最少。总之,本论文以Martin的评价理论为框架,对《警察与赞美诗》从评价理论系统的三个次系统,即态度、介入和级差三方面进行分析,来揭示作者是如何应用评价系统的各种语言手段来实现对主人公悲剧命运的描述。以此证明进一步评价理论的实用性和可操作性,并不失为文学...
