奥威尔和温斯顿的困境—极权世界中个体的抗争与妥协

出版于1949年的小说《一九八四》被誉为奥威尔的代表作。在《一九八四》中奥威尔给我们呈现了一个噩梦般的世界:极权主义对人性采取了极度野蛮残酷的压制。小说警惕世人提防专制统治给人们的正常生活带来的巨大破坏。奥威尔把与社会不公正、社会压制和极权政治作斗争作为作家的责任。他对政治的理解绝不僵化,不局限于任何狭隘的主义。他表达了作为独立个体的内心感受而不遵从任何意识形态和政党。他用写作来反对各种形式的极权政治的主题只有一个:个体的困境和他们企图获得救赎的悲剧。在小说《一九八四》中,奥威尔创造了温斯顿这个人物形象。长期以来,温斯顿被看作作者自我的投射。他们在与极权和自身局限的对抗中都经历了抗争和妥协。所不同的是,奥威尔最终凭借自己的艺术创作取得了胜利。这篇论文旨在研究奥威尔在真实世界和温斯顿在虚构的极权社会中的困境从而找到出路。这篇论文的创新处有三:一、首次将奥威尔和他创造的一个人物的生活经历在极权社会的背景下进行比较,试图揭示他们成功或失败的原因;二、通过这一对比,去发现单独的个体在极权社会中究竟能做什么,能做到什么;三、为探讨奥威尔关于极权主义的政治意识以及《一九八四》这部小说的创作动机提供...
