学以致圣——程颐《颜子所好何学论》篇解析

【摘要】:程颐的《颜子所好何学论》旨在坚定士人成圣的信念并探索切实可行的成圣途径。为此,他基于自身的为学经历,破除了"圣人生而知之"的偏见,将为学与成圣关联起来。针对人们的善性被不受控制的情感所遮蔽的心性状态,他提出了"性其情"的工夫原则,要求学者自觉善性,并以此来约束情感。在具体方法上,程颐坚持"自明而诚""先知后行"的工夫进路,认为工夫包括知道、信道和行道三个次第相连而又浑然一体的环节,并将颜子视为以此种工夫把握道体的典范。他进而指出,颜子与圣人相比只差一个熟化的阶段,因而前者最终成圣只是时间问题。这说明"学以致圣"是完全可能的,学者要做的就是端正为学动机,自觉拒斥俗学。程颐此论所针对的是北宋中期士人追求科举仕进,好为"巧文丽辞"的时代风潮,它确立了宋明理学的修养目标,并勾勒出理学工夫论的基本走向,在理学史上具有奠基性意义。
[Abstract]:Cheng Yi's "Yan Zi Suo he Xue Theory" aims at strengthening the belief of scholars to become holy and exploring practical ways to become holy. For this reason, based on his own learning experience, he broke the prejudice that saints were born with knowledge, and associated learning with sanctity. In view of the mental state in which people's good nature is obscured by uncontrolled emotion, he puts forward the principle of "sexual emotion", which requires scholars to be conscious of kindness and to restrain emotion. In terms of concrete methods, Cheng Yi adheres to the "self-evident and sincere" and "Prophet's follow-up" approach, believing that time includes knowing that the channel and the street are connected and integrated. Yan Zi is regarded as a model for grasping Taoist style with this kind of effort. He went on to point out that Yan Zi was only one mature stage compared with saints, so it was only a matter of time before the former became holy. This shows that it is completely possible to "learn to sanctify". All scholars have to do is correct their motivation and consciously reject folklore. Cheng Yi's theory is aimed at the scholars' pursuit of imperial examination and official progress in the middle Northern Song Dynasty, so as to be the trend of the times of "Qiao Wenli ci". It established the cultivation goal of Song Ming's Neo-Confucianism and outlined the basic trend of the theory of Neo-Confucianism. It is of fundamental significance in the history of science.
