经济转型期中国汽车行业高层管理团队与战略选择的匹配研究

【摘要】:汽车产业因其市场关联度高、产业链长、涉及行业范围广以及消费需求拉动大等特点,对我国经济发展起着举足轻重的作用。改革开放35年来,我国汽车产业得到了快速发展,目前已成为世界第一汽车生产大国。现阶段我国仍处于经济转型期,汽车产业也在加快产业结构调整的步伐。随着汽车企业面临的外部环境日益复杂化,仅凭CEO个人已经无法做出准确的决策了,越来越多的企业开始关注高层管理团队这个特殊的群体。高层管理团队作为企业战略的制定者,在很大程度上决定着企业未来的发展方向。然而,企业应当构建什么样的高层管理团队才能充分发挥其最大效能,以适应企业发展的需要呢。也就是说,企业高层管理团队与战略选择之间具有什么样的关系呢,显然这是一个值得深入研究的课题。 本文基于高层梯队理论和战略选择理论,同时结合我国仍处在经济转型期这个大的宏观背景,选取汽车行业作为研究对象,通过构建多类别Logit回归模型,来探究我国汽车行业上市公司的战略选择与高层管理团队特征的匹配关系。 本文的主要内容分为五部分:第1章引言,探讨了选题的背景、意义、思路和方法以及可能的创新点;第2章相关理论综述和研究假设,主要梳理了国内外有关高层管理团队特征与企业战略选择关系的研究以及我国汽车行业的战略选择,并在此基础上提出本文的研究假设;第3章研究设计,详细介绍了样本的选取,自变量、因变量和控制变量的定义、分类及测量方法,模型的构建等内容;第4章研究结果,主要是对自变量和因变量的描述性统计,多类别Logit回归结果的说明等;第5章结论与展望,基于第四章的回归结果,进一步分析与讨论,同时指出本研究的不足和今后研究的方向。 通过实证分析,假设2和6得到了部分验证,假设5没有通过显著性检验,其他假设都得到了验证。本文最终得出如下结论: 第一,高层管理团队成员的平均年龄越大,管理者在进行战略决策时更愿意选择相关多元化战略、产品开发战略和市场开发战略,而平均年龄越小的高管团队越倾向于采用非相关多元化战略和横向一体化战略;第二,高层管理团队的平均规模越大,越倾向于选择市场开发战略、产品开发战略、相关多元化战略,平均规模越小则更偏向于采用横向一体化战略和非相关多元化战略;第三,高层管理团队的平均教育水平越高,管理者越偏好市场开发战略、横向—体化战略和非相关多元化战略,平均教育水平越低则越倾向于采用纵向一体化战略、产品开发战略和相关多元化战略;第四,高层管理团队的年龄异质性越大,管理者在制定战略时偏向于按产品开发战略、非相关多元化战略、纵向一体化战略、横向一体化战略、相关多元化战略以及市场开发战略的顺序来选择;年龄异质性越小的高管团队则按相反的顺序选择;第五,在一定范围内高层管理团队的职业背景异质性越高,越倾向于采用一体化战略和非相关多元化战略,而职业背景异质性越低的高管团队更愿意选择相关多元化战略、市场开发战略.和产品开发战略。 基于以上分析,本文可能的创新点有:(1)从样本选取来看,国内外很少选取单个行业研究,而本文选取中国汽车行业作为研究对象,使得研究结论更有针对性和实践性;(2)从研究方法上看,本文选取汽车行业上市公司连续4届(12年)高层管理团队与战略选择的相关数据,通过构建多类别Logit回归方程来检验两者之间的相关关系,这在相关研究中也属少见;(3)从研究结果上看,我国汽车行业高层管理团队职业背景异质性与企业战略选择之间并不是普通的线性关系,而是“n”关系。这不仅修正和补充了部分现有结论,同时也证明了分行业研究的必要性。 同时本文也存在一定的局限,主要体现在:首先,从样本数量上看,经过筛选以后符合要求的仅有48家,有效样本总数为192个,可见样本量较少;其次,从变量的选取看,本文仅仅考虑了学术界常用的高层管理团队特征,而且对于因变量和控制变量的选取还存在不完善的地方;最后,从研究视角上看,还需借鉴国外经验从不同的视角来检验高层管理团队与战略选择之间的相关关系。
[Abstract]:The automobile industry has played an important role in China ' s economic development because of its high correlation degree , long industrial chain , wide range of industry and large consumption demand . In the past 35 years , China ' s auto industry has been developing rapidly .
Based on the theory of high - rise echelon theory and strategic choice theory , this paper selects the auto industry as the research object , and explores the matching relationship between strategic choice of listed companies in China ' s auto industry and the characteristics of high - level management team by constructing multi - category Logit regression model .
The main contents of this paper are divided into five parts : the introduction of chapter 1 , the background , significance , thinking and method of the selection , and possible innovation points ;
Chapter 2 summarizes the relevant theoretical reviews and research assumptions , and mainly sorts out the research on the relationship between the characteristics of senior management team at home and abroad and the strategic choice of enterprises , as well as the strategic choice of the automobile industry in our country , and puts forward the research assumptions on this basis .
Chapter 3 studies the design , details the selection of sample , the definition , classification and measurement method of the independent variables , the dependent variables and the control variables , the construction of the model and so on ;
The results of chapter 4 are mainly descriptive statistics of independent variables and dependent variables , description of multi - category Logit regression results , etc .
Chapter 5 conclusions and prospects , based on the regression results of chapter 4 , further analysis and discussion , at the same time point out the shortcomings of this study and the direction of future research .
Based on the empirical analysis , it is assumed that 2 and 6 are partially verified , assuming that 5 has not passed the significance test , and other assumptions are verified . The following conclusions are finally obtained :
First , the larger the average age of senior management team members , managers are more willing to choose relevant diversification strategy , product development strategy and market development strategy when making strategic decision - making , and the more senior management team with smaller average age tends to adopt non - related diversification strategy and horizontal integration strategy ;
Second , the larger the average size of the senior management team , the more inclined to choose the market development strategy , the product development strategy , the related diversification strategy , the smaller the average scale , the smaller the average scale is to adopt the horizontal integration strategy and the non - related diversification strategy ;
Thirdly , the higher the average education level of the senior management team , the more the managers prefer the market development strategy , the horizontal - mainstreaming strategy and the non - related diversification strategy , the lower the average education level , the more inclined to adopt the vertical integration strategy , the product development strategy and the related diversification strategy ;
Fourthly , the greater the age heterogeneity of the senior management team , the managers tend to choose from the strategies of product development strategy , non - related diversification strategy , vertical integration strategy , horizontal integration strategy , related diversification strategy and market development strategy .
The smaller the age heterogeneity , the smaller the executive team chose in the opposite order ;
Fifth , the higher the occupational background heterogeneity of the senior management team within a certain range , the more inclined to adopt the integrated strategy and the non - related diversification strategy , the lower the heterogeneity of the professional background is willing to choose the relevant diversification strategy , the market development strategy and the product development strategy .
Based on the above analysis , the possible innovations in this paper include : ( 1 ) selecting a single industry research at home and abroad from the sample selection , and selecting the Chinese automobile industry as the research object , so that the research conclusion is more focused and practical ;
( 2 ) From the research method , this paper selects the relevant data of the senior management team and strategy choice for the four consecutive ( 12 years ) senior management team of the auto industry listed company , and verifies the correlation between them by constructing the multi - category Logit regression equation , which is rare in the related research ;
( 3 ) On the basis of the research results , there is not a general linear relationship between the occupational background heterogeneity and strategic choice of the senior management team in the auto industry in our country , but the relationship of " n " is not only correct and supplemented , but also the necessity of research in branch industry is also proved .
At the same time , there are some limitations in this paper , which are mainly embodied in the following : First , only 48 of the samples are satisfied after screening , the total number of valid samples is 192 , and the number of visible samples is less ;
Secondly , from the selection of variables , this paper only takes into account the characteristics of high - level management team which is commonly used in academic circles , but also has imperfect places for the selection of dependent variables and control variables ;
Finally , from the perspective of research , it is also necessary to use the experience of foreign countries to examine the relationship between senior management team and strategic choice from different perspectives .
