从缮性至心智训练——Mental discipline在中国的引入

【摘要】:Mental discipline是民国时期由严复从西方教育哲学中引入的概念,它蕴含着西方经典的教育价值取向。迄今为止,国内学者采取的译名有缮性、心智训练、智力训练以及心灵陶冶。缮性等译名既有其产生的学术史土壤,亦包含了译者对于教育的价值期待,然其合宜性有待商榷。相较而言,心智形塑一词,规避了训练的严苛和机械之涵义,其在教育方向、方式和教育对象的涵义方面更贴合原词。
[Abstract]:Mental discipline is a concept introduced by Yan Fu from western educational philosophy during the Republic of China. It contains the western classical educational value orientation. The translation of the names of intelligence training and spiritual edification, and so on, not only has its academic history, but also contains the translator's expectation of value for education, but its suitability is open to question. It evades the harsh and mechanical meaning of training, and fits the original word in the direction of education, the way and the meaning of the object of education.
